They already have changed how cars are made. I have never seen such more quality control from the factory, or terrible engineering.

regardless of whether you like or hate Tesla, E.M. is a flat out genius at turning the things he does into news... he did transform automobile options, he made all electric a conversation point and a HUGE business from scratch, how many men or women have started a car company from scratch since the early 1900's. ahh no volume producers. So anything we dismiss out of hand that he says we do so at our own peril, this man is not just smart, he is otherworldly intelligent and I may hate Tesla products but the genius behind them gets 100% of my admiration and attention. I bet he will make improvements to car production and just about anything else he puts his mind to... Genius, no two ways about it.

With a skateboard chassis, it should be easy to offer a plethora of cars by putting on different hats.

That could be it, a skateboard which Tesla actually does not use today. I think they could also announce additional stamping using giant machines, consolidating production into as few parts as possible. Or a next gen wiring harness. We'll find out soon.

The skateboard could allow a factory to put different brand hats on the skateboard. Tesla could build for multiple brands and/or respond quickly to changing desires.

Definitely. I think Rivian is using a skateboard.
