LEAKED : Maserati MC20 Makes An Unscheduled Debut A Day Early - Are You Now A Believer In The Trident Marque?
When you think of Maserati most people say, "ice to look at but I'll let someone else have that experience.

Pretty sound advice considering the high costs of owning one.  But now we have the all new MC20 set to debut tomorrow which promises to change everything.

Equipped with a mid-mounted powerplant that pumps out 630 horsepower (470 kilowatts) and 538 pound-feet (730 Newton-meters) of torque. It can rev to 8,000 rpm and uses dual spark plugs for each cylinder.  This may be a supercar that will have a following.

Check it out and let us know what you think.

I have to assume this is a rebadged F8 Tributo more or less. Not the car I would have approved for production if I was on the board. They need some volume and this will likely sell in the dozens per year.

Absolutely not, lots of animosity between Ferrari and Maserati right now, too much to go into, but the fact that the Ferrari Roma has Maserati Alfieri written all over it, and Maserati releasing a spy photo of the MC20 in front of the giant middle finger in Milano should be a big hint.

The MC20 is a deveLopment from the Alfa 4C And is built in the same plant in Modena. Hearing rumors it may base in the 160k range with options under 200.

@CC it's a bastardized 4C.

All wrong... this is a pure Maserati and the engine is a brand new Maserati developed 6cyl... massive 760lbs of torque and 650HP. All carbon fiber body made exclusively for this car. The base price is $210,000 plus options. Most likely 250k with the kit on... there are not Ferrari parts or 4c pieces in anyway. Give the company credit, it is a beautiful car, but "low volume" and they will have to push dealers to take them. Too expensive for a large production car, and globally every dealer is expected to order one, so that is many many units from day one for sale... that is not a god thing... it will not be scarce and therefor wont hold value.. unlike Ferrari.

Generic...derivative...exactly what Maserati does not need.

Agree with Matt, this is not the car Maserati needs right now. No real Italian flair or flash and they should have done something more forward looking technologically.

Maserati has never been about flash, Lamborghini have been about over the top flash, Ferraris are the boy racer, Maserati have always been about understated elegance. A gentleman’s grand touring car.

Simply compare the 1st generation of mid engine cars. The Countach, the Boxer and the Bora. The Countach got the most attention, the Boxer was the fastest while the Bora was the most refined.

As far as technological, take a look at the engine spec. Twin spark, pre chamber etc.

Maserati needs vehicles that will keep it alive and sell well. This will do neither.

The poor-selling and grossly outdated Qporte and Ghibli need to be replaced by a single vehicle. The Maserati Magnum has failed and needs to be replaced. I would say to recast the Ghibli as an EV coupesedan but FCA doesn't "do" EVs.

Maserati was always a near-do-well in the mid-engined sports car field with the disastrous Bora and Merak that made it a laughingstock. The gorgeous Ghibli F/R coupe that preceded it was better in every way than the Fieros and the Khamsin that appeared after the Ghibli--like the Bora and Merak--was a laughingstock of poor quality and failed miserably in the sports car world.

This pile of merde will do likewise.

@Foncool, agreed as the 60s wound down and going forward they were more toned down that Ferraris and Lambos, however if you look further back in their history, models like the 300S, Tipo 61 Birdcage, A6GCS etc... they had some nice Italian flair to them.

The 300S , Tipo 60,61,63,64,65 Birdcages, A6 GCS were all race cars. All the A6 variants that were used on the road were coach built.

Outside of the MC12, Maserati has never built a “Sports Car” for road use. Their production cars have always been a “Gentleman’s Grand Touring” car, understated and elegant. Meant to transport at a rapid pace in refined style and comfort. They never try to be the fastest nor the flashiest, the only other manufacturer like Maserati would be Aston Martin.

Maybe the Alfa 4C will do better as a Maserati than as an Alfa?

At least there will be cash on the hood now.
