BROKEN PROMISES? COVID Has Helped LOWER Carbon Emissions In 2020 Up To 24%. So WHY Aren't Temps Dropping At ALL?
We've all heard this 1000 times. If everyone dumped their car in favor of an EV, we could significantly decrease carbon emissions and in turn, SAVE the planet by decreasing temps.

And many just bought that idea and trusted the 'experts'. Because how would we ever know what the real outcome would be UNTIL everyone made the transition.

Well, COVID changed everything and now as a result carbon emissions are below any reasonable calculation people have hoped for.

We were assured, if we LOWERED the levels, we'd FIX the climate and temperatures would drop and so would fire danger.

Oops, that's just not happening is it?
Not even 1/1000th of a degree.

They told us we would see the positive effects almost IMMEDIATELY.

So why hasn't it changed a damn thing?

Asking for a friend...

001, you should know by now that the believers in the secular religion of global warming when, faced with evidence that proves them wrong, they just double down and shout louder.

The moron from San Jose actually tried to pass off smoke from the California fires as a sudden and alarming increase in tailpipe emissions.

And he doubles down and shouts louder.

Spare the air is NOT just for smog.

"Though wildfire smoke has subsided significantly and air quality has improved over the past few days, high temperatures and tailpipe exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog this holiday weekend," said Jack Broadbent, executive officer of the Air District.

When you are talking about climate change or the average temperature of the entire planet or the oceans, a 3 month reduction in C02 is nice, but there is no instant fix or change. And nobody ever said there would be. Somebody who is a scientist could possible make a prediction if we hand a year or two of 24% less C02 vs just 3 months.

It's a stat for nine months of 2020 not only 3.

you're not serious right. 3 months and you're expecting the polar bears to have new ice bridges to walk across and chill out on? lol

Pour shit into a bathtub for decades, and then for 5 months start pouring less shit. There is still a bathtub filled with shit.

It's going to take a long time to even break even where we are not adding more damage.

This site has become such a joke. A lot of people stopped coming here many years ago, thanks to what you described.

I don't even know why I bother.

So America should shut itself down and damage our economy so that China and India can put the pedal to the metal on theirs, all the while not having to comply with the Paris Accords - which themselves are based on a faked NOLA study?

Yup -that is the exact mantra and blueprint of the left. Close all the dirty factories and we too can be all green and shit -meanwhile we loose all those jobs to third world shit holes with much worse environmental standards than we have...

This has to be the most rediculous board for climate change discussions, a bunch of uninformed people spouting politics about stuff they know nothing about but believing in global conspiracies. If you knew even a little bit about basic science and how the atmosphere works you would realize it is not an on and off switch, ie we stop burning fossil fuels and the temps just start dropping. But of course likely a lot of the same people who believed in UraniumOne and other bizarre theories. Sad days for the USA.

Ahh, Climate Science - the only science field where the computer models keep turning out to be wrong. Instead of fixing them, they just keep altering the temperature data history to fit.If they did this with distance, a yardstick would be a different length every year.

Energy efficiency and reducing pollution are worthy goals. CO2 is not a pollutant. Increasing CO2 by a few parts per million will not result in huge temperature spikes. Solar and wind power are fine, but the battery technology (power density and short recharging time) is not ready for prime time yet.

Global temperatures have been rising SINCE the PEAK OF THE LAST ICE AGE, ~12,500 years ago.

https://www.uvm.edu/perkins/charlotte-whale

ICE WILL CONTINUE TO MELT UNTIL THE NEXT ICE AGE STARTS.

You globalwarmingists need to stfu about polar ice and focus on:

- HABITAT DESTRUCTION
- POACHING

These, i.e. HUMAN ACTIVITY, are the two biggest threats to biodiversity on Earth. Not ±0.5° change in sea temp or some equally meaningless change in the glacier ice front.

Who said we would see effects immediately from switching to electric vehicles?

I don't think anyone said that, so to suggest that not meeting that imaginary watermark is evidence of the failure of the entire principle is intellectually disingenuous.

How much did carbon emissions lower? How long were they lower for? Have they been trending back up as people start to move more? It's not as though the human race flipped the switch to "OFF" on all carbon emissions.

So, it sounds like you're saying humans stopped all carbon output, and the earth didn't immediately heal like the experts said it would. Neither of those two things are true, and I think most people know that; and I think you know that too, but it was judged to be something that would get clicks and comments.

Finally, regarding natural warming and cooling. It's true the planet goes through periodic temperature fluctuations, no question about it.

However, the *RATE* of temperature increase and the *TIMESCALE* of that increase outpaces any natural global processes we've seen in the historical record.

Furthermore, the timescale in question corresponds with increased human industrial activity.

Furthermore furthermore, CO2 and (and Methane to a lesser extent) has been demonstrated to have an effect on the atmosphere, climate, and global temperature.

Furthermore, furthermore, furthermore, periods of high CO2 concentrations in the historical record are correlated with periods of higher temperature.

So, let's draw a conclusion. CO2 has been linked to increased temperatures in the past, CO2 has been demonstrated to be directly responsible for climate changes resulting in higher global temperatures, human output of CO2 is correlated with a global temperature increase that is incongruous with the rate of natural change.

Surely, all of those factors together, indicate human production of CO2 is having a direct effect on the increase in global temperatures?
