Move Over Audi And Mercedes - Maserati Teases An All Electric SUV To Steal Your Thunder

Maserati just revealed the very enticing MC20, which will be available with a 621 horsepower V6 engine driving the rear wheels. However, it will also be made available with a fully electric powertrain within the next few years; this seems to be a trend for Maserati, as the manufacturer announced it had entered a new era in which it would embrace electrification.

During the reveal venue for the MC20, Maserati also teased and confirmed the name of its new SUV, a smaller model that would slot beneath the Levane in the range. Said model will be revealed next year and, at first, it will be motivated only by internal combustion powertrains.

Here we go again: investing heavily in Maserati and Alfa Romeo only to have utter market failure.

The Maserati 300s--Qporte and Ghibli--were good for being quickly manipulated Chrysler LX products. But by 2015, there should have been all new versions of the Qporte, Ghibli, Charger, Challenger, and 300 on a new platform. Maserati started to make progress and Sergio Maricon forgot about them.

But wait there's more...the hacked up LX that became Giorgio was the next boondoggle that lost money big time.

Thankfully Sergio died or FCA would have been bankrupt two years ago.

Odd name, but smart to have a smaller CUV to capitalize on this trend of people buying tiny, near useless CUV's. It should do well for them as it has for other brands.

They're getting a lot of mileage out of the Renegade.

It is pronounced Grey-Kal-A. And as usual MDarringer doesn’t know $#!+ about the product platforms. For the record the Quattroporte/Ghibli And the Chrysler LX platform were evolutions of the Mercedes W220 (S Class) platform.

Maserati (and Alfa) sales tanked as a direct result of appointment of Chrysler management and their horrible low end dealer network that Only knows how to sell on price. They don’t belong in the upscale market.
