Did Tesla Flip Flop? Will Now Export Cars From Chinese Gigafactory

Tesla is preparing to export its made-in-China Model 3 cars to Europe and other markets, according to two new reports, despite Elon Musk saying that Tesla wasn’t going to do just that.

When Tesla started building its Gigafactory in Shanghai, in an attempt to reassure people that the automaker wasn’t just shifting production capacity to China, CEO Elon Musk was adamant that it was to supply local demand in China and not to export to other markets.

Big deal. Doesn't Apple make all their iPhones and computers in China? why doesn't the media make a big deal about Apple? Elon Musk has proven himself to be a master businessman.

I wouldn't buy a Tesla in the first place, much less one made by the ChiComs.

I hate to say it, but I would probably rather have the Chinese version due to the quality improvements. Tesla's margin will also be higher on the Chinese one, while at the same time having cheaper/faster shipping to Asian countries. It makes perfect sense to use the Chinese gigafactory for all the 3/Ys in Asia until more gigafactories come online.

And the public health bitch in Alameda County pissed off Elon, so it just a matter of time for Teslas sold in California to be built elsewhere.

The Austin Gigafactory could be double the size of the Fremont one. It's entirely possible for them to move more production to Texas if there is another situation like in Q1/Q2.
