Do Celebrities Like Logan Paul HELP Or Hurt A Brand Like Mercedes When They Feature Them In Their Work?
Car companies like virtually all brands spend a LOT Of money to market and promote a certain image.

Take Mercedes for instance. They want all those who think of their brand to see them as exclusive, aspirational, best of breed and great heritage and reputation.

It doesn't take much in this lighting fast world of social media to move positive and negative news about something or someone.

And many people totally shatter that image these companies strive to protect, with work like this from YouTube celeb Logan Paul.

So tell us when you see this kind of product like a Benz CARTOONIFIED, does it HELP or HURT the image and or SALES of the brand?

Advertising is not an easy subject and often has little to do with the personalities involved - it has MUCH MORE to do with what the viewers remember from the ads - print or video.

Definition - the purpose of Advertising is NOT getting people to know about your product - its real purpose is getting people to BUY the product.

You place advertising to get your PRODUCT remembered - not the celebrity. From my generation - if I said"Where's the beef" = most people would automatically associate that with Wendy's of the time. Plop Plop, Fizz Fizz, or what a relief it is - was a sure winner for Alka Seltzer. "Gee boss I always wanted to fix a Transmission" was easily remembered as an AAMCO Transmission Commercial. However - there are lots of commercials - many with celebrities - where the product simply fails to be associated with the commercial and many have done so - many millions of Dollars have been spent for a failed commercial because there was no association between the AD and the product. Virtually all of us can remember thinking - I wonder what that commercial was about!.

So - who are you targeting with your AD with Logan Paul - ? I am a Mercedes Customer - and have no real idea who he is. Does not bode well for that ad. THe question is - do I represent a possible Mercedes Buyer more than those who actually know who Logan Paul is. Yet - THere will be some personalities that will enhance the effectiveness of an AD when you Define the Target customer. And the target customer of High ENd Cars is not Teeny Boppers. And it is not just - are you talking about it - the question is - would I be swayed by the AD with the celebrity to actually BUY the product. Obviously - there is a Demographic that might be swayed by that person - but can they actually BUY the car? For example - using a Vegan in a commercial for BEEF is not likely to be a winner.

You're old: "I am a Mercedes Customer - and have no real idea who he is."

I have a call into Logan Paul to do a coffin commercial so that it will match your demographic's most pressing need.

Poor product placement. If you are after the buyers of tomorrow, the kids getting A's and headed to top schools and graduate school, I don't think this tool is the vehicle to get the brand to reach these young people who will become potential customers. Right idea, wrong artist.

@TomM
You're quoting a Wendy's tv spot from the early 80s. You're NOT the target audience for this ad with Logan Paul. The fact is, many people 35 and under have heard of Logan Paul (and never heard of "Plop plop fizz fizz") and that generation is critical to the future of Mercedes. Mercedes has also moved down market over the last decade with entry level models geared toward younger, less affluent buyers. Brands have to move forward with current culture, even if their older customers haven't.

This is the kind of guy who actually turns me off buying a product. I buy something if “I” like it and it solves an issue that I am having. I couldn’t give a fat frogs ass as to what any celebrity or says or tells me to do as most of them are just morons who succeeded at doing a couch casting and would be working at Starbucks otherwise.

@houstonmidtown, Logan Paul has nearly 60 million followers on social media. That would qualify him as a celebrity, whether you or I find him interesting or not.

this dudes life is sad really. one day he'll literally (wake up) & realize that he's been pimped by the entertainment & marketing industry solely for his social media popularity.

he's enjoying the checks now. but when he "grows up" & wants to be taken seriously....the stinging sensations in the anal regions will become more noticeable.
