It Looks Like Kia Reads Auto Spies And Is Taking Our Advice. Spies Claim Land Cruiser Killer In The Works!
How long have you been hearing us babble on about Kia taking the Telluride to the next level or building a totally new product to go head to head with the Toyota Land Cruiser?

Well, lets just say the rumors are they are listening and one is in the works. Motoring says this:

"Kia is plotting a big, rugged SUV to take on the Toyota Prado – and it could be as big as the extra-large LandCruiser.

Timelines for the big new Kia SUV are hazy, as they are for the ute on which it’s expected to be based, and the development challenges brought about by COVID-19 haven’t helped either, but 2023 is understood to be in the ballpark for its debut.

No name has been attached to the extra-large Kia SUV project either, but it would offer a dual-range transmission, locking diffs and oodles of ground clearance for hard-core off-roading duties."

What say you Spies? Would a Land Cruiser that costs 60% of Toyota's icon seduce YOU?

Given the current Telluride is already longer and wider than the Land Cruiser based upon the specs I am seeing, wouldn't Kia be targeting the Sequoia or Expedition rather than the Land Cruiser?

It'll be another stickers, shocks, and maybe aero package. It'll never be a solid axle Land Rover.

Hmmmmm. This will be interesting. A Land Rover Range Rover rival Kia? If this is the case they should consider a Telluride Hybrid in the future

Put wider wheels/tires on the Telluride, raise it a bit, and put in the engine of the Stinger GT and I might be in.

Give me a break. Kia and Hyndai are shit products that never last. How many old H-K do you see on the road -you don’t as they fall apart and are NOT engineered to last. Who knows most about a car -the Douche selling it to you, the Engineers who designed it or the Mechanics whom work on these things all damn day long? Ask any reputable non H-K Mechanic and they will tell you these things are disposable junk. How many ancient, high mileage Toyotas do you see on the road -tonnes as they just last forever and usually the body rusts out before the powertrain gives out.

Others have made advancements but Toyota is still KING and play the long game.

Answer = a lot of Kias from the 90s and early 2000s i see on the road. You must be delusional if you never seen a 1998 Kia Sportage driving in 2020.
So Mitsubishi, Suzuki,Isuzu how many of them you see on the road with high mileage?

So you telling me you never seen a 2001 Kia Rio, 2004 Kia Optima, 2006 Kia ceed, 2003 Kia Sorento, 2003 Kia Sedona or 2004 Kia Amanti running on today's 2020 streets? I got a 2010 Kia Forte with 115,000 miles. Running everyday. Where you from La La Land? The Land of Oz?

I live in Toronto and no we don’t seem any older H-K products here as they like most Asian built cars or ones made in Mexico usually rust out in quick order thanks to subpar steel just like Sprinter Vans. I have had numerous family members buy them and they have ALL moved on to other brands or they don’t enjoy the shit smells of Hyundai or the products don’t last much past the warranty status. Even my old mechanic who was the KIA dealer told me how cheaply they were made or how certain fasteners were ill placed adding considerable time to otherwise simple part swap outs on brake and suspension components. Hell even Scotty Kilmar calls them middle of the pack -only slightly above Nissan, MeSoBitchy, Suzuki and NOT long term cars like Honda, Toyota etc.

I love how you call others “Bigots” especially when you are the biggest one here and YES they are shit products but of course the DOUCHE who sells them and fabric guard would adamantly deny that.

Buddy of mine just had his KIA Sonata engine freeze up at 91,000 miles after 9 years on a 10 year warranty. Dealer and KIA dragging their feet in honoring warranty despite all service records available.

This is the kind of bullshit post where someone posts an example of one to purport that it is true for all.

More than likely the engine never had an oil change and now he will respond saying that his "buddy" did meticulous maintenance.

If they actually do then Great! A Telluride with some kind of trim kit is most definitely not a Land Cruiser competitor. It will be hard for them to top Land Cruiser in dependability. Land Cruiser is designed to last 25 years, there is no cost engineering on this vehicle, and it is built by the best employees of the car company that consistently has the highest quality for years. Kia will have to price lower so there will be compromises, and they simply can not match the best quality that Toyota can put out from their Japanese factories.

And before a certain Kia dealer attacks my above post as racist or whatever...no one in the world can match the quality that Toyota can put out from its best factories in Japan (Toyota Auto Body where the Land Cruiser is built and the Lexus factory in Tahara).

That is not quite true. The Cambridge factory in Canada were they make the RX was their top QC factory for many years and the ONLY factory that made Lexus outside of Japan for many years. ...
