Too even say the VW isn't a competitor was silly. And it blatantly shows - how they think - we're dumb enough to believe their BS. And then the meeting & PR with Musk. C'mon....they "benchmarked" the Model Y.

Not a surprise - already positive reviews on the ID.4 final prototypes and journalists in Europe are also comparing it to the Tesla.

it makes sense to benchmark tesla because they are the standard for the growing mass produced ev market. it doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to directly target them as a competitor though. However you want to be smart, if you are developing a similar sized vehicle that you don't overshoot or underwhelm based on your value prop and pricing.
