Tesla Launches $2K Acceleration Boost For Model Y Owners

Tesla is launching a $2,000 ‘Acceleration Boost’ upgrade for Model Y Dual Motor AWD vehicles — shaving half a second off the 0 to 60 mph acceleration.

I think it's fair, the extra power will probably wear the motors faster, increasing replacement costs for Tesla. I didn't pay for the upgrade on my 3, it's already fast enough to get me into trouble lol.

Wouldn't an employee discount violate the "everyone pays list price" mantra that Tesla loves so much, making them hypocrites.

Oh wait.

What's the employee discount?

I do have a friend that works for Tesla, no discount for him or friends/family :/ In fact there don't appear to be any purchase perks whatsoever except getting pushed up the delivery timeline on new models (which people working in the factory can't afford, they need that $25k car). The big perk seems to be Tesla stock options, which may have doubled or tripled the salaries of early factory workers if they didn't sell them asap.
