Tesla Continues To School The Industry With Record Third Quarter Deliveries In Spite Of A Pandemic

Tesla has released its third-quarter vehicle production and delivery report, with the company delivering almost 140,000 electric cars, beating Wall Street’s estimate of 129,950 vehicles. These numbers eclipse the previous record set by Tesla in the fourth quarter of 2019, when the company delivered 112,000 cars in one quarter.

From July and September, the electric car maker produced a total of 145,036 vehicles comprised of 16,992 Model S and Model X and 128,044 Model 3 and Model Y. Vehicle production is listed at 15,200 Model S and Model X, as well as 124,100 Model 3 and Model Y.

Pandemic or not the work goes on and if you need a new car and your job and finances are secure, you get one. Our firm is doing well and grew 100% YOY from 2019. Selling on a global scale is a great thing because not every market is up or down at the same time.

Can't wait to dig into the 3rd Quarter Tesla 10Q to see if they have achieved true profitability on those sales.

SJD...do you have an opinion on profitability?

Curiously, in the NYC metro area (NJ, Long Island, NYC, Westchester, Southern Connecticut) there are virtually no Model Y's on the road. Did see a Model Y on a flatbed two weeks ago however. How is Model Y production ramping up?

Here in the DC area the Y (and the 3) are everywhere. So are some e-trons by the way.

Tesla's profitability or lack thereof is 100% due to the sale of clean energy credits. Seemed like pretty shady accounting since the revenues are recognized way in advance of sales (see: Enron). Not really a sustainable gimmick over the long term.

The question no one seems to answer when touting Tesla sales is where are they being sold?

And the price-fixing, cash-raping way they are sold.

Are you guys still whining about Tesla? Time to let it go. It's over - they won.
