Leaked Dealer Cheat Sheet Shows EXACTLY Who Is Being Targeted By Volkwagen's ID.4

A dealer cheat sheet for the upcoming VW ID.4 electric SUV has been leaked, and it shows that the company considers gas SUVs, rather than electric SUVs like the Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model Y, and upcoming Nissan Ariya, as its direct competitors.

The cheat sheet, posted to internet forum VWIDTalk.com, is intended for dealer use as a basic rundown of the capabilities of the new ID.4. It consists of four pages of information and highlights the capabilities that VW thinks are most important for dealers to know while selling the car.

The ID.4 has a very similar (perhaps almost identical) power train as the ID.4 will have. 3rd party tests have already shown the ID.3 to be very efficient, rivaling Tesla and far better than many others on the market. While it's too early to say what will happen here in the US, their product is looking pretty good.

Crap, wish we could edit our posts. I meant the ID.3 and ID.4 have similar if not almost identical powertrains.

When presented to cost conscious buyers I don't think they will easily move past the first line. $12k is a good chunk of change just to shrug off with the relatively nebulous cost of ownership advantage. Other factors include brand and reliability reputation, fit and finish, general inertia of trying something new vs. sticking with the devil folks know, etc.

Selling the ID.4 will be an uphill battle.

Many states offer subsidies along with the fed that will lower the cost to be very similar to the ICE counterparts.

Don't forget the $7.500 federal tax credit which Tesla no longer has.

Look at VW competing with Honda and Toyota with a vehicle $12K higher.

Better to wait for Honda or Toyota EV to be available.

I've only know VW customers move to Honda or Toyota, and never go back.

VW creates a new thing and people outside the brand decide to give it a try. Then they have to experience the Alfa-Romeolike quality/reliability of a VW and they dump them. The American Passat went gangbusters then crashed and burned well before the sedan downturn. Next was the Altas. VW built it. People came. They lived with a VW. Now we're seeing the Atlas go cold. The same will be of VW's bullshit EV efforts. They will half-ass the design and deliver something substandard.

What is forgotten in all the hype is that dealers aren’t ready to handle the requirements to service EVs. They are in middle of inspection and planning to upgrade now. i’d be surprised if even 2% are compliant right now. Most are still trying to dig out their Touareg lifts, the quarantine zones are not ready etc.
