Judge Questions DMV's Constitutional Ground To Censor Vanity Plates

A Tesla Model 3 owner won a preliminary injunction on Friday against the Rhode Island DMV in a dispute involving the use of a vanity plate displaying the message “FKGAS.” In response to an anonymous complaint earlier this year, the agency belatedly determined the messaging was offensive and that the plate must be returned. However, a lawsuit was filed in partnership with the state’s American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) branch contesting the decision on constitutional grounds.

Another liberal judge further breaking down civility, common decency, good manners, decorum, etiquette, mores, politeness, respectability, etc. Granted that drawing the line not easy and subject to criticism but there should be a line.

Did you even read the article before going liberal bashing? The DMV was the one that wanted to stop it and the "liberal judge" as you put it, sided with the car owner. Also she was nominated by your god emperor that you seem to love. Try reading things first next time.

You make my point for me. Judge no matter who appointed him took liberal approach. Its a slippery slope. What's next C**T. N****r, S**C, etc on license plates all under the guise of freedom of speech.

PUGPROUD- It is a slippery slope indeed.

But in this charged world I can see someone approving "biden2020" and calling "trump2020" as offensive. Common sense has gone out the windows and IMHO as a society we are WAY too sensitive and read way too much into things.

In Canada there was a license plate case. GRABHER is the custom plate but it is also the owners surname. All was fine for nearly 2 decades until someone complained. He tried to fight it in court but lost. The Province (which controls these things) did now want it on the roads as it is a message that is subject to interpretation.
