I'm surprised they didn't drop the X price.

If they have enough 4680 cells by Q1, they could probably chop another $5k off off the cost while boosting the range to 500 miles.

The S needs to ditch the FusNata look and buck the trend by becoming a more conventional sedan, sized and priced like an S Class with the intent of being the EV S Class that Mercedes can't build. The EQS looks like a total turd.

So, for how long will Tesla allegedly continue to prop up Model S and Model X resale values? Anyone have any stats on what should be plummeting resale value for Model S and Model X.

Regarding Tesla model lines...

A "refresh" implies a mild resign to bring a 3 year old vehicle up to date in line with the rest of the market and to fix the know 'bugs' and design/quality issues with a particular vehicle.

Aside from the only Model S facelift about 4 years ago (which improved the Model S' appearance) when the Model 3 was launched, Tesla appears to be pursing the 'Apple Model' - updating some software under the skin to address bug fixes but leaving the appearance and tactile user experience alone until somebody wants to buy a completely new model.

Thus - to put this in iPhone Parlance....

The Model S is like the 'iPhone 5S'

That would make the Model X to be like buying a re-manufactured 'iPhone8 Plus' from ATT's website.

The Model 3 is like a two year old Apple iPhone X (first iPhone without the home button and first Tesla without an instrument panel).

Model Y is like an iPhone 11.

Basically, like Apple, Tesla launches products and leaves the older products to die. Curious about how this works out over the next few years.

Plaid is coming out next year, I don't think it will just be a new battery and motor. I think it will have a new interior (that seats 7 adults). There couldn't be a better time to do a Model S 2.0.

For the Model X, instead of focusing just on performance, it would be interesting if they sacrificed some performance to put an insane battery on it. If they double stack the new S Plaid battery they could get 900+ miles of range out of it while still having 0-60 below 2.5 seconds.

I wonder when Tesla will stop supporting the resale values of its models. IMO Tesla is totally propping them up.

how does Tesla support the resale values? Dropping the MSRP should DROP the resale value since you can get a brand new car for less of a premium.

Can't imagine a 7 seat sedan, maybe you meant for a X refresh?
S price reductions are likely Air related.

Regarding bug fixes, everyone should be doing this on a rolling basis or worst case yearly. Typically refreshes are exclusively aesthedics (reshaped plastic parts) and standard equipment change-ups to address competition.

It'll have 2 larger rear-facing seats, which was an option for a long time on the Model S but it was only for kids. I imagine it will still be pretty cramped but with the smaller motors and a better layout it might be possible to cart around 7 adults in a sedan for a small period of time.
