Tesla is looking into moving “current and future vehicle programs” to steer-by-wire with a new motor, geartrain, and chassis team in Austin, Texas.

Over the last few months, we have been reporting on how Tesla plans to establish new teams in Austin that are not directly related to the new Gigafactory under construction.

I think this will first be for the $25k car, but eventually all cars will be drive by wire. I hope they add sensors to the suspension to provide haptic feedback to make it feel like the wheel is mechanically connected. Response times should be much faster.

....And Tesla can kill as many "beta testers" as it wants in Texas while perfecting its drive by wire technology and future versions of "autopilot" (or "autokill" as I like to call it)

....Because for Texas, it's "just business" and "our business is progress"! Don't mess with Texas.

Oh and any lithium battery manufacturing 'tailings' can just be buried 'out back' behind the plant.

No joke but if Elon is so smart, why didn't he start in Texas to begin with?
