With A Starting Price 10k HIGHER Than The Tesla CYBERTRUCK And $112k For Launch Edition, Did The WOKE Blazer, SORRY, Hummer EV, Price Itself OUT Of The Market?
As I look at what I'm nicknaming the WOKE Blazer, I see a HUGE flaw already in GM's Hummer EV.
It looks cool, although it could be mistaken for the new Ford Bronco from certain angles and at quick glance.
And the over the top 1000hp and torque numbers could make it the first electric 'muscle car'.
But as usual, GM stumbles out of the gate with what we think is a HUGE flaw.
WHY would you price the first model $10k HIGHER than the TOP end Tesla CyberTruck. And then offer a silly $112k 'Launch edition', both of which can't match the Tesla range?
Not to mention the Hummer EV doesn't have the virtually indestructible metal and glass that is like nothing else ever on any consumer vehicle?
So tell us Spies, did we hit the nail on the head? And how bout that nickname?! #WokeBlazer

No. H2s were pricey, but the real issue is that this is an EV Avalanche rather than a Hummer which took the form of an SUV which is what the H1 was forced to become and the H2 did better.

kinda agree. it does hit on the "cool factors" being a 4-door pickup truck. looking at the overall structure, you can see how an SUV variant can easily be made in the future.
but I figure, GM is letting the Cadillac Lyriq fill the luxury EV SUV spot for now - considering the $110k+ pricing for the Hummer EV-3X today. I assume the Hummer EV is basically "previewing" the driving range, acceleration, battery charging performance for the Lyriq.
All of the excitement for the Hummer EV is a "win" for the Lyriq marketing.

This looks more like a Hummer than an Avalanche. Check the upright windshield, the far boxier greenhouse, giant tires, the lights on the roof etc. Pretty cool imo.
The main issue is that it's $43k more than a three motor, 500 mile range Cybertruck and they should go on sale around the same time.

Makes sense because Tesla seems to sell all its vehicles at a significant loss (funded by shareholders) so it can generate EV pollution credits to sell to companies like GM.
I love the Hummer and think it hits the sweet spot in general...which is not Silverado or F150 buyers but Greenies who fit in the range spanned by a $150,000 MB G-Wagon down to an $80,000 fancy domestic pickup. This is smart by GM and it will do well. This will also be much more usable than the Tesla pickup will be.

Range is a big miss, heavy on design gimmicks, and not sure who the Hummer brand will appeal to, certainly not many interested in EV. Likely will sell 1% of Cybertruck, but at least GM is trying to figure out a future.

there's credible (global) interest in the Hummer EV.
with range options from 250 to 300 to 350+ miles, this EV is instantly desirable.
i would bet that a guy that just ordered his Audi e-tron SUV, maybe wants the Hummer EV too. it's not unfathomable for a current Model S/X owner to also want the Hummer EV as well.

Given the first edition doubles the battery capacity over any long range Tesla, the range is pathetic.
I would have thought LG could have designed a more capable power train.
