That Hummer Edition 1 Purchase You Were Going To Sleep On Is Already Sold Out
After months of waiting and several teasers, General Motors officially pulled the sheet off its all-new 2022 GMC Hummer EV. It was worth the wait. As a direct rival to the also upcoming Tesla Cybertruck, the Hummer will be part of a whole new generation of all-electric trucks and, therefore, a different type of truck war. And like the Cybertruck, as well as other new and highly anticipated new vehicles such as the Ford Bronco, anxious customers were ready to go with their credit cards. It was a first-come, first-served basis for those who wanted to reserve one of the few and coveted Edition 1 models.

GMC has now confirmed that within just one hour or so, all available Edition 1s were reserved.

Awesome! This Hummer is going to expose Tesla's Cybertruck as the vaporware that it may very well be.

For the record, GM has wasted money on lots of ill fated concepts and launches over the years (Saturn anyone?) but this Hummer EV revival has promise, let's see if GM can deliver. Similarily, the Ford Mustang Mach E is also a very promising idea.

The EV story for the next year will go from being 'I like my EV but the build quality is terrible' to 'wow, the GM/Ford EV can be my only vehicle!

By the way, if GM or Ford were smart and since they have extensive dealer networks with existing real estate, they should make every one of their dealerships nationwide, install a couple of charging ports for 'emergency charging' by GM/Ford EV's.

The retail dealership network is a competitive advantage that GM / Ford should leverage in the EV rollout.

charger stations at each GMC/Chevy dealership seems like a (good) no-brainer idea. the network locations are already there. and it could be a place for customers to get further guidance & training on how to use their EV vehicles too.

Best comment so far: "...For $112k that interior better not be made out of recycled McDonald’s play place slides like the rest of their vehicles...."

Looks like a brute of a truck - though smaller than the old Hummer H2. Would like to see it next to a GMC Yukon or Acadia to compare sizing. The open top options is a nice feature too. The 4-wheel steering is an old feature that's gotten much better through the years - more common today than most people realize. The driving range - 200/300/350+ miles & 10 min charge for 100mile range - that's really nice. The removable roof panels is a cool feature too - hope they don't leak after 2 years.

Now I just need to see this with 22"/24" wheels & thinner street tire sets. I'm never taking this offroad. lol.

And too embarrassed to confirm the low number.
