What Will A Biden Win Mean For The Auto Industry?
Automakers are gearing up for tough new vehicle emissions rules and policies favoring electric vehicles if Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden wins the White House.

Biden and U.S. President Donald Trump both need the votes of auto workers in Midwestern swing states such as Michigan and Ohio, and both say they want automakers to create more auto jobs in the United States, rather than Mexico or China.

From there, Trump’s and Biden’s policies for autos and transportation diverge, presenting automakers with very different sets of risks and rewards.

A Harris/Biden win is a win for any business that is willing to pay bribes and engages in corruption as part of its business model. The big winner will be China as the Biden Crime Family will continue to sell off our country to the ChiComs.

I don't think taxes will change for many people on the site if Joe gets elected ($400k+ annual income, and we all know there are workarounds to get around taxes if you're making that much anyway). Hopefully he reverses the Trump tax INCREASES (cap on prop tax deduction) in CA and NY. There could be some upside for the EV/green auto industry, but I don't expect many changes overall.

I don't like either but voted for Joe, I can't stand this clown anymore and thought it was the least worse option. All extremism sucks, but throwing about logic and science entirely is going too far for me and outweighs my libertarian financial ideals.

Also on the 11 key measures for California this year, I sided with the Republicans on 5 and Democrats with 6. I'm right in the middle now and have voted for a mix of Republican and Democratic presidents in the past.

Whatever happens, the US auto industry will be fine.

The money is with the middle class... The Swamp will pull a Bill Clinton who ran on middle class tax cut, then after he was elected said "I've worked harder than I've ever worked and I cant give you that cut, I have to raise your taxes"... which was his plan all along. He lost both houses of Congress after his 1st 2 years for the first time in 40 years. He then smartly signed everything Newt Gingrich put in front of him the next 6 years and takes credit for anything that went right.. he was a new scandal every week.... pathetic degenerates...

When tax rates on corporations and businesses are increased, then employee wages raises are slowed or stopped. Slow Joe also wants to do away with many income tax deductions which not only affect the so-called rich. The massive capital gains tax increase will hurt many. Slow Joe also wants to do away with deductibility of 401k plans. He's basically given in to the Bernie Sanders wing of the democratic-socialists. Estate tax exemption will probably get reverted back to $1.1 million. That means the government will take 55%+++ of anything you leave to your kids over $1.1 million. The Wall Street Journal has calculated that the average American family will suffer a $6500 loss of income annually under the Harris/Biden/Sanders tax plan.

For the 401k, the tax credit would still be there, it would just be capped at 26%. So if you're making less than $160k single or $321k married, wouldn't even apply. Plus, a Roth 401k is a better investment if plan to make more money in the future.

They need to leave the peoples private retirement accounts alone. If one puts more into the account they get more than the one that doesn't. The companies that add to that will be restricted on what they can give and this will be a dis incentive which means many companies will stop providing the option to employees.... which is the DemoRat plan, make you NEED gubment and make you a slave to them... They are such pathetic arrogant cowards...

The first thing everyone should realize is they are NOT voting for Biden. If he wins, he will take the oath, check the box as #46 but will either resign for health issues, or the on going corruption scandal. And it won’t be the Republicans that force him out, it will be the Democrats to insert their unelectable hand picked President.

This has been the agreed plan among the party elites, Harris will be an image President Woman of Color, but there will be a shadow government actually running things consisting of Obama, Holder etc. the Socialist wing of the Party will have enormous influence on the direction of policy. All the investigations like Durham will fade away, this will happen by 2022. Then you’ll see a push in 2022 for Obama to be elected as UN General Secretary when Guterres term ends.

Doing away with the 401k will massively hurt many many people. High income earners are required by the safe harbor provision, to contribute to their employee's 401k plans. Take away the incentive for those high earners to contribute to a 401k, and their employees get nothing. A study was released that showed that for every 1% increase in corporate taxes, there is a corresponding 0.5% decrease in employee wages. The democratic tax plan will hurt everyone.

It amazes me how so many Republicans know exactly what Biden is going to do when in fact he has not established that yet - nor does he know the makeup of the Congress yet as well. Statements made by candidates are most often wishes that have to be fleshed out - I note that we were to have a cheaper and better national medical Plan long ago from the 2016 Republican Candidate - and we still do not have any particulars.

The fact is - while Trump reduced the Emissions regulations temporarily in the USA - Europe and the Far East did not do that - actually theirs got stronger. The players here did not get a pass so they are not behind the curve.

Until we know what the Covid Virus intends to do - or have a vaccine and treatment - there remains an uncertainty that no one really has the answer to.

We know that remdesivir works. We know that when given early in the disease cycle, hydrocholorquine works. We also have multiple vaccines in the pipeline. Medicine has learned a lot about the treatment of covid over the past several months. We do have effective therapies at this point. The disease is deadliest to those with co-morbidities and those who are very old (who tend to have co-morbidities). My guess is we are past the most difficult part of this disease cycle.

As for emissions, why should America sacrifice our economy while the world's biggest polluters (Russia, China, India) don't have to abide by the Paris Accords until 2030? Emissions rules should apply to all countries simultaneously.

At the debate tonight, Biden emphatically stated that he intends to end the oil industry. That means the loss of millions of jobs, the loss of American energy independence, and the destruction of much of our auto industry. His Green New Deal will cost up to $93 billion in the next decade, at a cost of $600k for each family. That affects all of us at an extraordinary cost.

The sacrifice isn't the economy, it's people's health in dense cities. Should just do a carbon tax based on pollution for each metro. A low density metro with a lot of vegetation should be more lenient towards pollution vs. LA/NY as an example.
