Here We Go Again: Lucid Claims Tesla Isn't A Competitor - How Long Until That Tune Changes?

It’s hard not to compare EV upstart Lucid Motors to Tesla. There are plenty of similarities between the two companies - particularly when it comes to their exclusive focus on luxury electric vehicles - but it seems Lucid doesn’t actually see Tesla as a direct rival.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Finance, the CEO of Lucid Motors, Peter Rawlinson, explained that the company he runs is actually after traditional OEMs, such as Mercedes-Benz. He explained that

It remains possible that The end of the $7500 tax incentive on Tesla EVS - as these cars become cheaper and cheaper - May become a deciding factor in their purchase to second generation buyers. No one knows. EVs market penetration is what counts - will competition ADD to the total buyers - OR will it just add more choices. Right now - we do not have the POWER available from our power grids which are already melting down.
