VIDEO REVIEW: 2021 Cadillac Escalade. Stays THIRSTY My Friends!
The original Cadillac Escalade was a reaction to Lincoln’s Navigator and clearly a Chevy Suburban with a new grille and leather seats. Generation five shares almost no body panels or interior components with other GM SUVs. It has a completely different attitude, look and feel. The new independent rear suspension combined with Magnetic Ride Control gives it athletic moves. Seriously. Tom Voelk checks out a well-equipped Premium Luxury model and finds it to be the best Escalade ever.

And thirsty.

Huge disappointment in the design department, a Toyota Highlander has more road presence, the Escalade used to command the most road presence of lux SUVs, wat happen?

It looks like a giant Traverse. We have an Escalade and it has real presence. This thing is just dull. It looks like we'll be keep ours a while longer.

Somebody in GM design decided that all cars from the brand should have squinty lights. Not sure why. But if you want to shoot your sales in the foot, making a bold SUV ugly or at a minimum far too plain to be an Escalade is the way to go. You don't want to grow sales by making the Escalade appeal to people who did not like it before. This is supposed to be the SUV if you are or just think you are a Baller. This current model isn't it.
