Tesla's Latest Gigafactory To Be Located In The US, Where Should It Be?

Tesla has revealed that its next Gigafactory and battery cell production facility will likely be located in the United States, according to the company’s 10-Q document that was released for the third quarter.

It would be revolutionary if New York State threw a whole bunch of tax credits Tesla's way to get the plant in NYS - Buffalo area would be a PR coup.

This would be such a big win for a lefty-liberal state to show themselves as being "business friendly".

Not gonna happen though!

Buffalo already has the Gigafactory 2 that builds solar panels and tiles, partially built with NYS taxpayer money to jumpstart the local economy, it mandates that Tesla employs a certain number of people.

Wonder if Tulsa, OK will get the next one after all.

@vdiv: certainly possible. I would think Tesla would like something closer to the east coast than Oklahoma, but it is still a whole lot closer than Fremont. And rail service should be good for shipping them that way.

Yea, you're right, they are too busy subsidizing red states.

I think the assumptions in the report are wrong. Just because there is no factory specified for Semi and the Roadster does not mean there will be a brand new factory for it. I'm around 90% sure they'll build the Semi in Austin and the Roadster in Fremont. Eventually there will be some sort of east coast gigafactory but that is probably 5 years out. I think the next giga will probably be in India, Australia, South America, or Africa.
