SPY VIDEO: CAUGHT! Maserati MMXX 2020 Testing In Germany By Agent 00T!
The new barely disguised Maserati MMXX 2020 / MC20 caught near Stuttgart (Germany) caught by German spy Agent 00T.

The new MC20 (MC for Maserati Corse and 20 for 2020, the year of its world première and the start of the Brand’s new Era) is the Maserati everyone was waiting for. It is a car with incredible aerodynamic efficiency, which conceals a sporty soul, with the new Nettuno engine, a 630 horsepower V6 with torque of 730 Nm that delivers 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 2,9 seconds and a top speed over 325 km an hour. An engine that signals Maserati’s return to producing its own power units after a hiatus of more than 20 years.

The MC20 is an extremely lightweight car under 1,500 kg (kerb weight), and thanks to its power output of 630 hp it comes out best in class in weight/power ratio, at just 2.33 kg/hp. This record is achieved through the use of choice quality materials, exploiting all the potentials of carbon fibre without any sacrifices with regard to comfort.

Just as the 4C was wrong for Alfa Romeo, the 4C cobbled into a Maserati is even more of a bad idea.

The problem with the 4C was in the marketing position by Chrysler. The 4C is/was a track car period, it should have pitched directly to Ferrari owners as such as most new Ferrari owners no longer track their cars. Those that are serious about track either join the Challenge Series or buy retired Challenge cars. Others that don’t want to commit the funds needed to run Challenge cars opted for Throwaway Porsches, Corvettes etc. That is where Chrysler should have focused the 4C, fast low cost throwaway track car.

Maserati’s issue with the MC20 is going be related their poor network of Chrysler dealers that should never have been awarded the franchise to start with, yet alone having their Parts Changer Technicians attempting to do anything on a vehicle as advanced as an MC20.

Though I’d have rather have seen the Alfieri (hopefully the mew GranTurismo will have Alfieri styling cues), the MC20 is a very good Halo car to sit at the Top of the range, with Special editions of it coming in the future, to rebuild the mystique destroyed for the 2nd time by association with Chrysler.

The problem with the 4C was that it was 2X the price it was worth.

Right, a carbon fiber monocoque car starting 60k should be 30k, when there isn’t another car with a carbon monocoque that can be purchased under 200k.

Proving once again like most mass market dealers you can only sell on price, which is one of the reasons why they can’t do upscale.

Bitch, please. Take your Midol because you need to get schooled.

The 4C was as pathetic of a misfire as a Fiero.

Had it not been ugly, and had it been priced right it could have sold well and been an ambassador for rejuvenating the Alfa Romeo name.

At its price point it was destroyed on all parameters of performance by other cars such as a Cayman, Corvette, or a Shelby.

As for the carbon fiber monocoque, that was simply a stupid design choice for several reasons. The most obvious one being that it would place the 4C in premium territory when there was nothing premium about Alfa Romeo's legacy of selling ignominious automotive shit. By the way, you do know that the carbon fiber monocoque is poorly engineered right and it has stress cracking issues, right?

What is the market for that? 20 units? The problem was they built a car with no business case for it and got the exact results anyone with a brain could have predicted.

Precisely. At a $30K base it would have sold like mad--relatively speaking--and would have set up a performance image for Alfa Romeo. It needed to me an Alfa Romeo MR2 not a wannabe plastic Ferrari.

Same could be said for BMW and their Z4 positioning. A Z3 at 35K sells like mad; a Z4 at 75K sells to no one.
