Tesla Says It Will Restore AM, FM, Satellite Radio Option On Older Models For A Mere $500

Tesla has decided to offer a radio retrofit as an option with its infotainment retrofit after complaints from some owners.

It’s not cheap at $500.

In recent years, Tesla has launched several new features that require more computing power, and even with Tesla’s famous over-the-air software updates, owners of older vehicles couldn’t get those features.

If that $500 incudes hardware upgrades, that price isn't unreasonable. It's easy to spend $500 or more on a radio upgrade. However, if it's just a software update, that's too much. Especially since the functionality had previously existed.

It's a hardware upgrade. You can also access just about any FM or AM radio channel through the streaming internet system, so I'm not sure why anyone would want this upgrade unless they truly live someplace with 0 cell reception. Also, after using Spotify, it's hard to go back.

Probably requires hardware...the antenna and tuner were probably removed when they removed the feature,
