What Happens When A KAREN Buys An Aston Martin. And Then Faces A Judge.

People were comparing Richmond, B.C. resident Jessica Liu to James Bond when she purchased her $200,000 2014 Aston Martin DB9, for obvious reasons.

But those comparisons promptly stopped when Liu crashed the car into a rock in December 2015, learned she wouldn’t be able to afford to fix it, and then sued the dealership and repair shop because she thought they needlessly hiked up the bill.

It turns out Liu only had basic insurance that wouldn’t cover the $85,000 to $135,000 collision repair, so when she was handed the invoice, she took it to the courts and told them the dealer and repair shop should pay for it.

Complete truth to they can’t drive. Go to Southern China to see what I mean. If the roads don’t move just use the sidewalk or opposing lanes of traffic and pedestrians be dammed! Hong Kong is MUCH more civilized though than it’s northern neighbours...

If she didn’t like the price at one shop, why didn’t she get a 2nd quote at another? Oh, that’s right, because the racist claim was BS and she was just trying to get someone else to pay for her mistake. Good for the judge for throwing this nonsense out.

This lady purchased a $200k vehicle & only got "basic" insurance? What's "basic" insurance, liability only plan?

an inability to afford or to provide full coverage insurance on an expensive vehicle, is a major indicator that the driver shouldn't be driving it.

she "hit" a rock that did that kind of damage? and didn't expect a huge repair bill?

It's pretty common among Chinese people, especially those from Hong Kong to live beyond their means. I know of Chinese people who drive MBs and BMWs but drive home to their rented apartments. Apparently, perceived exterior appearance is more important to them.
