Ford Planning New EV Based On Mustang Mach E Platform

By the way of announcing the E-Transit manufacturing site and general EV manufacturing plans, Ford revealed that an additional "electrified vehicle" will be made in Cuautitlan, Mexico.

Currently, the plant is producing Ford Mustang Mach-E, which will hit the market in December 2020, but in the not too distant future, another EV will be assigned to the site.

The plan is to introduce a new model, which - as we understand - will share the platform with the Mustang Mach-E:

Obviously a Lincoln. Given that the Edge/Nautilus are not long for this world, the Lincoln version of the Mach E could be a new Nautilus.

Disagree on the Nautilus. Thinking too small. This is a rare opportunity to take a leap with Lincoln.

Well the Nautilus is a dead car driving at this point given that CD4 production is ending in Canada by 2023 at the latest.

The Aviator is selling nicely and the Nautilus has to be heavily incentivized to move it.

Supposedly production of the Nautilus will shift to China, but Chinese cars produce a very negative reaction with American buyers, so that would not be to Lincoln's advantage.

With CD4 dead and the Fusion crossover being based on the Focus platform along with the Escape, Bronco Sport, Maverick, and Corsair, the only way to make money on a new Edge would be for it to be an LWB Escape. With the Escape such a total stumble and with the Bronco Sport set to rumble, adding a new Edge that would be redundant to the Fusion and Escape would make no sense. If anything the Escape is likely to be redone as an LWB version of itself.

Cut to the Mach E being a sensation and the need to increase EV sales now that the communists are back in control and an EV Nautilus as an LWB version of the Mach E makes abundant sense.

You're missing the point, dude. The Nautilus name has no equity. Doesn't make sense to burden a dynamic, new generational leap like a Lincolnized Mach E with the Nautilus name. It's precisely your type of thinking that has kept the Lincoln brand in purgatory. Stick to the sales lot. You know nothing about automotive branding.

Great! This is the opportunity to make Lincoln relevant again. Don't blow it with an overly conservative design. The general form of the Mach E is very good (for a crossover). For the Lincoln, refine the look to be a bit less fussy and more premium. The Car and Driver comp is a good start, but misses an opportunity to be more forward looking. Lincoln needs a signature lighting design e.g. Volvo's "Thor's hammer".

Nope. You're projecting. I have one handle. Go ahead, verify with the administrator.
