The LF-FC was gorgeous, but the LS that came from it was dull. It's probably time to cancel the LS.

The "LF" will replace it.

Matt said: It's probably time to cancel the LS.

Rick said: Lexus needs to be in that space to compete against offering from MB, BMW, Audi, etc. I would suggest that Lexus go back to the drawing board and put out a Fresh Offering and not a Refresh.

First generation took Germans to school on quality and reliability at reasonable cost. No longer as appealing.

People don't buy cars in the premium or ultra premium segments because of reliability. And what is reliability anyway? Would you rather have a great functioning infotainment system that might glitch every now and then (the Germans) vs. one that stays working but is horrific to use (Lexus)? It's not like people are stuck on the side of the road in their Benzes or Bimmers while Lexi fly by.

Nope...It's not in the same league as the S Class/7 Series/A8. If Acura came back with the RL and Infiniti the Q45, then it could have real competition.

The Japanese, especially Lexus have equaled or surpassed the Germans years ago. No one says oh the LS isn't real competition or it's cheaper unless they're stuck in 1996.

Nonsense - the original LS did indeed wake up the industry at the time and its price point was advantageous, however Toyota stuck with the status quo for far too long - its car is small inside especially in the rear - and that Cow Catcher grill is Hideous. It has actually fallen down a class to the E class level at best.

It has been more than a decade since the LS actually competed in the S-class space. Yes, it may be reliable but there is little else to recommend it.

I wish Acura would come back with a mid-size Legend. If not, come back with a larger-than-MDX 3-Row SUV and name it Legend.

I knew the euro sycophants would all chime in. I'm driving this 7 series that I bought in the late summer last year which just cracked 20000 miles and the sunroof drains get clogged. That's never happened on any Infiniti I've ever owned, new, old, out of warranty, cpo/scratch and dent - NEVER. imagine your car being parked outside in a rainstorm and you and your date jump inside and she's getting wet from the water dripping from the dome light near the passenger side, lol. Embarrassing lol.
Then the dealer works up the nerve to say it may not be covered under warranty, if they have to clear a clog. Attentuon to detail and reliability matters.

Probably the most reliable car in the segment...shame it skews a little too 'weird'.

If an old codger with a driver was looking at an S560 or 750i and they were 'car ambivalent' they should just buy the Lexus - they would probably be happier with it.

The rest of us will continue to be puzzled by the LS500

I can remember test driving one back in 2000. It was a hoot. Very smooth and powerful. The latest edition is like other Lexus products, a bit odd at first. The side DLO has to set a record for the most pillars. Not sure why that was needed. Overall it will never disappoint you with repairs or reliability woes. If you like the looks you can keep it for 10-15 years no problem.

To quote Jeremy Clarkson, it will last millions of miles, all of them boring.

I’d take one, but it’s a bit out of my price range. Try building one online... very convoluted, choosing colors or options requires a baffling array of required other options.

No one sees Lexus as a true Tier 1 anymore. Yes, that's my opinion. But when your top level products, i.e., LS, LX, LC can't challenge Benz or BMW in sales, then the focus needs to be elsewhere. Don't get me wrong. They're still a very solid luxury player, but in the same image as Acura/Volvo/Cadillac/Infiniti.

No one says "Tier 1" anymore except people who are days away from death.

Exterior is not too bad, but interior is a failure like 7 series

Lexus should make up their mind positioning LS toward either Panamera or S, not something in between
