Germans Slap 60MPH Speed Limit On The Autobahn During European Heatwave
German transportation authorities are allegedly imposing speed restrictions across the Autobahn highway network due to a sweltering heat wave that’s expected to peak on Wednesday. According to a report by Bloomberg, these high temperatures could cause severe cracks on the road's surface, which could lead to motor vehicle accidents.

Temperatures are expected to break records for the month of June, which was previously set at 38.2 degrees Celsius, or about 101 degrees Fahrenheit. The country’s highest temperature record happened in July of 2015, which topped out at 40.3 degrees Celsius, or 104.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Germany isn’t typically known for heat waves and culturally, they don’t believe in air conditioning. In fact, the majority of buildings and homes don't feature AC.

Actually - CO2 levels have been reduced by over 30% since 1990

The REAL scientists of virtually ALL countries including OURS have agreed that CO2 emissions are a threat to us - and should be addressed.

TO date - there has been NO PEER REVIEWED study in any major scientific publication that supports the opposing view - and most of those that have been published by RAGS generally fail to mention that their "DR" that wrote the article is not in science. (One popular one is a CPA) - however there are still a bunch of Blockheaded conservatives who think they can PAY MONEY to make this go away - without needing to address the real problem. ANd the real Deniers are simply proving their lack of intelligence.

And anyone who lives near a Beach of a Ocean on the Earth knows that the Global Warming IS indeed making the levels of the sea rise - the number of Boat Docks that once were well above the water level that are now under the surface alone proves that one too.

Where did you get information that CO2 levels have been reduced by 30 percent?? Atmospheric CO2 levels hit 400 ppm this year for the first time in recorded history. (And for the last 400,000 years).
Global warming is real and is man made. Review charts of average global temp, CO2 emissions over the last 150 years and they align.
Some anti-science people (republicans) will whine "but the earth has been warmer before." True, millions of years ago and it took tens of thousands of years to rise. We've done it in 150.
And the oceans were much higher too. Oh, and 85 percent of our food crops are grown in a temperate zone.
The upper atmosphere story is even more dire.

@Truthy what I said was (1) factual and (2) directly comprehensible, but if you pay attention to TomM he says all sorts of things that he thinks are true in his made up world, but which are patently false.

Likely ineffective, but they are on the right path in moving away from C02.

March 13, 2019 article from the Yale School of Forestry.

https://e360.yale.edu/digest/renewables-generated-a-record-65-percent-of-germanys-electricity-last-week

Renewable energy sources supplied nearly 65 percent of Germany’s electricity last week, with wind turbines alone responsible for 48.4 percent of power production nationwide, Clean Energy Wire reported. As a result, fossil fuel plants ran at a minimum output and nuclear facilities were shut down at night.

“These figures show that the envisaged goal [of the German government] of 65 percent renewables by 2030 is technically feasible,” Bruno Burger, a researcher with the solar research institute Fraunhofer ISE, said in a statement.

Lignite coal generated an average 24 percent of Germany’s electricity in 2018. Last week, that share was down to just 12 percent. Solar contributed 5.1 percent of Germany’s electricity last week, biomass 7.6 percent, and hydropower 3.5 percent.

Germany recently increased its renewable energy goal from 55 to 65 percent by 2030 to compensate for the decommissioning of aging nuclear and coal plants. In 2018, renewable energy generated an average of 40.4 percent of the country’s electricity. Analysts are encouraged by early 2019 numbers: Solar power generation jumped 20 percent over last February, while onshore wind increased by 36 percent and offshore wind by 26 percent.

CC

Im calling bullshit on Germany as they import massive energy from Poland that is COAL generated but decommissioned some coal plants to claim to be more green -like putting a white wedding dress on the town hooker.

Sorry Im an environmentalist and most of this is all bullshit and has been hijacked by profiteering assholes like David Suzuki and Al Gore preaching the gospel as they travel the world in a G7 or BBJ to their multiple mansions. Even the original founder of Greenpeace is calling out the bullshit and hypocrisy of the movement with all the fake unscientific claims for "Climate Emergency" the new buzz word of the year

@QEW. Your data may be out of date. Germany only imports fossil fuels, not electricity. $96B dollar worth actually.

Wind and solar energy will not economically fill energy requirements. The best answer for cheap, clean energy is nuclear. Japan and France get the majority of their energy from nuclear.

@Thruthy read the post again. Germany is generating so much alternative energy from renewable sources they shut down their reactors at night and have scaled back coal plants by 12% from 24% of the energy mix. With so much sunshine and empty space in the US west, solar and wind could be much bigger components to the USA mix. Funny enough while Nuclear energy is the prime source in most developed nations, the USA gets most of its electricity from burning fossil fuels. Nuclear power is just 20% of the total where it is 60% in most other nations.

Reactors can't be shut down overnight and brought back so quickly, they are simply down to ~7.5 GW (~15%) Much more electricity is now generated from renewables: https://www.electricitymap.org/?page=country&solar=false&remote=true&wind=false&countryCode=DE
