CONFIRMED: ANOTHER One Bites The Dust, Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Is Dead As A Doornail
Every once and a while an automaker goes out and builds something extraordinary.

For Volkswagen, it was the Phaeton.

For Lexus, it was the LFA.

And for Dodge, it may be the Challenge SRT Demon. You remember it, I am sure. It's the Challenger with 840 horsepower and could be delivered with the famous Demon Crate.

According to higher ups at Dodge, the Challenger SRT Demon will not be returning. Why? Well, they were serialized — though that's never stopped an automaker before [cough] Ford GT [cough].

Rumors are swirling that of the 40 developmental RAM Rebel TRX pick-up trucks equipped with high-performance motors, one is a Demon powerplant. But, as with all things on the internet, there's no official confirmation that it's true.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is gone like a bat out of hell, according to a top FCA executive.

"The Demon isn’t coming back," said Tim Kuniskis, FCA's Head of Passenger Cars for North America, told Muscle Cars & Trucks. "You know what would happen, if those 3,300 people that paid a lot of money for a serialized car, do you know what they would do to me if we brought it back..."

Dodge's big mistake was listing a production number. If they build more, they open themselves up to lawsuits. #DUMB move.

@MD-Ageed. If your goal is to spin off as many variants and eke out as much profit as possible on an old platform, why put any limits on your product sales? Instead say it's hand built-ish and we can only make X number per month to make the buyers wait a bit and feel special. But keep making them.

Maybe so but it may be turned into a solid strategy to 1) build a more loyal customer base as there initial Demon purchase holds its value and rises over time; 2) opens the door for further limited high performance runs at even higher prices (re. Hellephant, etc); 3) transforms Dodge into a common man specialty builder garnishing higher margins; and 4) strengthens the brands offerings lower down the food chain.

And that would be a BRILLIANT move IF there were new product coming. But I will curse Sergio Marchionne even in the grave because of the lack of investment in a new 300/Charger/Challenger and I curse Manley for not fast tracking development for Dodge.

The Chrysler 300 has easily outsold Alfa Romeo's volume. Alfa and Maserati dealers are folding by the way. The Charger/Challenger has more volume than Alfa's ROW volume.
