LEAKED! DETAILED Slides Detailing The All-new Land Rover Defender Reveals Critical Info...
While it was big news that Jaguar Land Rover trotted out a prototype Defender 90 at the start of the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed, we've got something a bit juicier. The cloud of secrecy surrounding the Defender is now officially dissipated.

That's because slides have leaked from an internal presentation. And, boy, they detail ALL of the critical information about the all-new Defender.

First off, there will be three variants. The 90, the 110 and the 130. The 110 arrives first, the 90 follows and then the 130 is last. Seating capacity varies. The 90 will fit six, the 110 will fit seven and the 130 will fit eight.

In terms of powerplants, there's three flavors of diesel motors. Purely guessing here, but I'd assume one will make its way stateside in form of a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel producing just under 300 horsepower and a whopping 479 lb.-ft. of torque. For the U.S. market I think it's safe to say most buyers will be choosing between two gasoline-powered engines: A 2.0-liter four cylinder good for about 300 horsepower and about 300 lb.-ft. of torque, and a more potent 3.0-liter six-cylinder churning out just under 400 horsepower and just a touch over 400 lb.-ft. of torque.

In terms of trim it will be interesting to see how Land Rover offers the Defender in the States. It can be optioned super basic with things like cloth seats but it can also get fully kitted out with 20-inch wheels and all the accoutrements one expects in a Land Rover product.

See below for full details.

The level of "fail" on this is astounding.

If and this is a big if. If the 130 model comes to North America it may be the one to get as you will actually have room for stuff behind the rear passenger seats. In the past it has also come with a pickup bed like the new Gladiator. Time will tell..

I mean...did they look at the Honda Element and say yea, let’s make a bigger version of that...pitiful

Priced right and this could be a big hit. Those well off folks buying Wrangler Unlimiteds because there is no other option outside of the much higher priced Benz G will get to this one fast. And reliability be damned since the Jeep isn’t known for reliability.

Can’t agree more. But the G wagon isn’t known for reliability as well. Anyways, this will sell very well if priced between $60-80k. I just wish they skipped the 4 and have 6 cylinders diesel or gas.

This will easily be priced 50% higher than a Wrangler. It almost looks like a Honda Element from the side. They completely missed an golden opportunity. It should have been full-retro in styling, priced to the penny like a Wrangler, and with an our-company-depends-on-it attention to quality control, reliability, and durability. Current JLR products are pretty terrible in that respect.

Lol keep in mind the Land Rover makes the G Wagon seem as reliable as a Toyota. If the Defender’s reliability is anything like current Jaguar/Land Rover products this thing is dead in the water

The Jeep still has an American name backing it which will keep some going to the English name.

@MD- And there lies the real issue. Wrangler = Defender. Using the G-Wagon as a guide will make this model too expensive and too posh. The Defender had a metal and plastic interior. It was a tin can and noisy. Like a Wrangler. As it has been sold over all over the world and had many uses, there will be a stripped down version sold. But no in North America.

I like the profile. It reminds me of my dearly departed 1995 Mitsubishi Montero which was indestructible.
However, like all LRL products it will be priced 50 percent too high and will be one of the most unreliable vehicles on the road.
Other than that, good job.

Needs a removable top version to attract some more affluent buyers going to the Wrangler Unlimited.

I heard The Defender was going to be price slighty above thebG Wagon in the hopes to get more prestige! Crazy given how it looks now! Plain and dull!

Pricing does not equal prestige. Ask Cadillac.

if the marketing is done right, the pricing ranges will kinda be ignored. for which ever trim/config that comes to the US.

at least they're not renaming it the "Land Rover Ranger Rover Defender". Kinda done with the Range Rover model name now. Maybe they can give it back to Ford.
