Musk Says No Refreshes For Model X Or Model S Anytime In The Near Future
Just yesterday, we shared a new video of the Tesla Model X "Raven" and its rematch against the Lamborghini Urus. Why a rematch? Well, Tesla has "refreshed" the Model S and Model X in order to achieve quicker acceleration, longer range, better efficiency, and improved handling. In that article, we brought to light an earlier story talking about Tesla preparing its Fremont factory for an upcoming Model S refresh.

Roh-roh. Cannot afford refresh. This is bad news as new competition with new -read "better" styling and luxury interiors - are entering the market.
Also, this means SanJoseDrive is out of the loop at work.

The S looked like a bloated Fusion to begin with and the Fusion is nearly dead but its look will live on.

I parked next to a new Model S over the weekend and the misalignment of the window trim was terrible. So much for the solving the quality issues.

Why refresh? Everyone who wanted a Model S or Model X bought one already. Those who wanted to stay in the Tesla "family" bought a Model 3 already.

I suspect the S and X are on their way to being walking dead models.

Can any of you name someone who just ponied up $100K for a new S or X? I cannot.

In NYC, people acquired their one S or X, and when they tired of it (or it got 'lemon-lawed'), they either bought a Model 3 or else they drive plug in Porsche Cayenne Hybrid's or BMW 530e sedans (which I think BMW is offering at $500/month leases or else with about $15,000 on the hood).

There are 530e's all over the HOV lanes in the NY Metro area - they are super cheap with the apparent discounts.

Tesla's are boring to look at. The bland bulbous front end on every Tesla is especially ugly.

S & X are dead, and those cars were the only ones that Tesla could make a profit on. Oops.

They are making a profit on all three models, and are still selling 12,500 S and X each quarter... more than most competitors in that price range/class.
