Volkswagen ID.3 EV Caught In The Nude For The First Time

While most of us saw only a heavily camouflaged Volkswagen ID.3, some are lucky enough to spot a brand new ID.3 without camo in front of their own house.

Greg Kable from Stuttgart, Germany released a few great photos of this most important modern VW:

"A lightly disguised @Volkswagen ID. 3 prototype just pulled up in front of my house in Stuttgart"

Apparently every new car needs a real of faux floating roof design.... Boo.

No shit. This floating roof debacle ranks right up there with trapezoidal-shaped exhaust finishers. WHY?

Making an EV using a shared platform with a wide range of configurations for ICE vehicles as well? That's kind of a big deal.

Exterior design is the biggest aspect to work on, to gather consumer momentum. Does their EV's need to look bland like a Tesla, highly futuristic stylized, or like other ICE models but with minor trim to distinguish the vehicle type? That's up to VW...and now Ford to decide how best to execute for consumer interest & sales.

Sell it in the USA as a Rabbit or Golf and ditch the IDcrap naming scheme.

I dig it, I have always liked hatches and those from VW especially style-wise

The problem is that VW's traditional base--pot heads like you--simply are not numerous enough--ironic IKR--to make them a volume player in the USA.

I don't understand the appeal of VW.

They offer cars that are as boring as Honda and Toyota but cost as much to maintain as BMW and MB, and then throw in an occasional massive fuel economy fraud or unintended acceleration catastrophe.

No thanks.
