BMW's Next CEO Needs To Realize Just How Big A Threat Tesla Is
BMW CEO Harald Krueger is leaving his post as the German automaker’s chief executive. In an update on Friday, the company announced that Krueger would not be seeking another term in his contract as CEO after it expires next year. A press release from BMW noted that the Supervisory Board will be discussing Krueger’s replacement during a meeting on July 18, though a report from the Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper, citing people from within the company, claimed that production chief Oliver Zipse is the frontrunner to take over the CEO role.

Next CEO needs to know about threats from all sides...competitors, technology, design, quality, etc. Whomever it might be needs to shake the whole organization and awaken some new thinking, new innovation and design across the whole model range. To stay the current course only hastens your firing. Be bold or be gone.

BMW's issue is that Tesla is squeezing it on the EV side because BMW has chosen not to compete to win, but BMW is also being eroded by mainstream product that is equal or better for less money.

At this point - I doubt that BMW has decided not to compete to win I still believe that this conversion to EVs is too early - and the demand for EVs will not be at the level needed to support the amount of competition that will be coming on line in the next three years.

Remember - that BMW will still have the advantage of Tax credit - that Tesla will NOT have next year. A $7500 advantage is going to be hard for Tesla to overcome - they do not make that much profit per car on the Model 3.

Why so many articles from Telarati.com?
BMW faces greater threats from Mercedes and the growing number of luxury alternatives.
Genesis just introduced the G70 which is what the new 3 Series should drive like.
Once again, not sure what a BMW is anymore aside from expensive.

The G70 and Stinger are both quite good, so what does a 3 Series give me that is $10-20K worth spending? It certainly isn't quality or reliability.

The Mustang GT and GT350 are amazing, so why should I settle for a 2 Series/M2 when there is no advantage?

The new Explorer will be better than an X5 for $20K less.

The RAV4 and CRV are simply better than the BMW X123 trio.

No advantage to getting a BMW.

Tesla has the advantage ONLY in the EV category. There product range is consist of only EV's & they build multiple EV models which helps reduce production costs. Remember BMW sells a wider range of ICE vehicles in a greater range of pricing as well. Are consumers choosing Tesla's over BMW's in the same range? idk. There is other competition for both EV & ICE vehicles beside these two automakers.

BMW needs to offer 3-4 EV models to efficiently finance & produce those vehicles. Spread the costs with a range of EV's that will appeal to more consumes. Similarly how they needed to spread the costs of SUV's so they could do R&D and produce other vehicles.

OK, BMW missed the "boat" at introducing EV to it's lineup. That was totally mishandled. Their existing EV's are too specialized in a particular style that was far off from what that traditional BMW owner expected. They have had the opportunity to create an EV lineup for vehicles that look & drive similar to their ICE equivalents...even the M-performance models. Tesla took the clear lead in providing raw performance while also being comfortable daily-drivers as well.

BMW is getting hammered from multiple angles. Tesla (and now Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, Jaguar) are winning the EV race because BMW doesn't even offer a mainstream SUV or sedan. In the traditional non-EV markets, Mercedes-Benz continues to rule in the luxury sedan segment with the S-Class. The new GLE will be formidable competition for the X5.

The company needs to realize how big all the traditional competitors are - not just Tesla. BMW had the global sales crown for several years but lost it 6 years ago and hasn't come close to getting it back.

BMW has best start defending itself from Hyundai as well as EV makers.
Its best selling model 3 has been knocked off by HyundaiGenisys G70.

Also, Hyundai keeps poaching high level executives from BMW leaving BMW brain dead.

The B pillars copied the Telluride but because that concept isnt Korean people going to act like that didnt happen. If the Kia Telliride concept was shown after then it would be accused of copying.

Pure Comedy.

Total global auto sales this year will be around 90 million cars, and Tesla will sell less than 400k.

BMW should realize that Tesla is a huge threat with all those fallen off rear bumpers on the road, AutoCrash self destruct software and exploding batteries. Why is Tesla trying to kill us all?

BMW does have multiple EV's coming out. The X3 fully electric will dominate the segment. 300 miles of range. Next question...

You're shooting heroin. BMW will continue its embarrassing slide with the rigged X3. I know your fetish is to suck tailpipe, but at least turn the car off first.
