Motor Trend Bestows Tesla Model S With Ultimate Car Of The Year Award - Was There A Better Choice?

I think it makes perfect sense and possibly the only car that truly fits the award. Whether the naysayers want to admit it or not, Tesla has set the tone for the future of personal transportation. No other car in my lifetime has come and put the entire industry on notice the way Tesla has with its Model S.

Wow - I guess this conclusively proves that Motor Trend does not solely base its "awards" on how much advertising an automaker places with Motor Trend!

Model S wouldn't have been my choice but I guess it drives eyeballs to the Motor Trend site.

My other problem with this "award," is that it is now generally assumed Tesla will report a loss for the 2nd quarter despite record deliveries. They are reducing lease prices again which is indicative of flagging demand. A few analysts are now saying tesla may never be profitable. So selling a car at a loss is hardly a business model for the industry.

IT is clear that Motor Trend failed to truly look at the Automobile from the very Beginning

The Ultimate Car of the Year should still have been the Ford Model T. Just think of ALL the new technology it introduced when compared to the HORSE. It boggles the mind. In comparison - the Model S only added batteries to the car.
