2020 Corvette Automatically Lifts The Front End For Speed Bumps

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has a lot going for it between the mid-engine configuration, the 495 horsepower V8, the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and, of course, the price. But one feature worth talking about is the hydraulically-actuated front suspension lift.

We don’t know a ton about this feature, but what we do know is that the front suspension—a short/long arm (SLA) double wishbone setup that eschews the old cars leaf spring design for coils—will offer a hydraulic “front suspension lift,” which Chevrolet says will raise the car’s ground clearance by 1.6 inches in just 2.8 seconds.

Well now that I know that all of the poor styling and bad ergonomics mean nothing.

You have to admit MD the C8 offers great performance at a reasonable price. Nothing in its price range comes even close. Easy to overlook a a few foibles when there so much good here.

I do agree that due to price and performance, compared to everything else, this car seems like the biggest bargain out there. But why couldn't they make it better looking? From the driver's seat forward, I can live with it. I wish the front bumper angled out and not in and gave the front half of the car more substance. But from the driver's seat back is an absolute mess. The bulk on the side from the driver's door to the Camaro tail lights is just awful, and the flat decklid with CORVETTE squeezed at the top is really bad IMO.

For the same/similar money I'd go with a Camaro ZL1 or a Shelby Mustang GT350 and both of them will come close. I'm not seeing how this is hands down better than a C7.

@darringer

Let me give you a heads up - it's hands down better than a C7.

Don't worry, you'll be singing its praises within a year. Guaranteed.

Guaranteed I won't. I dislike mid-engined cars.
