Ford Adds A Third Shift To Ranger Production Due To Overwhelming European Demand

Ford has announced it is adding a third shift and increasing production capacity at the Silverton Assembly plant in South Africa as a result of growing demand for the facelifted Ranger and the Ranger Raptor.

 

The rise in demand comes mainly from Europe, where Ranger sales set a year-to-date record in Ford’s 20 European markets (Austria, Belgium, Britain, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland).

The sales of the American Ranger remain tepid at best after an initial rush due to DUMB pricing. It's simply 20% too expensive for what it is. We can't deal as much on a Ranger as we can on an F150 because Ford is more intent on that sales crown and losing sales to the Ranger is not what they want.

THe Ranger actually pulls up the rear in most comparisons, but there is no question that in this case - the Chevy Colorado is the superior vehicle. If Chevy had production capacity - I would be they could sell several thousand more a month.

Ford has a winner with their EcoBoost engines. Your post is in seriously in error.

EcoBoost engines is a gasoline turbocharged direct injection (GTDI) engine that incorporates three fuel-saving, performance-enhancing technologies into one engine design—forced air induction via turbocharging, high-pressure direct fuel injection and variable cam timing. So in essence, the EcoBoost engines combine turbocharging and direct injection to improve fuel economy and lower emissions without sacrificing performance.
Recently, the 5-millionth vehicle with a Ford EcoBoost engine was built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI. A Ford Focus SFE with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder was number 5 million, with the first being the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in the 2009 Ford Taurus SHO.

Less than three years ago, Ford was celebrating the 500,000th EcoBoost-powered vehicle produced, and now there are ten times as many EcoBoost vehicles. 2015 is the first year where every new Ford passenger vehicle can be ordered with an EcoBoost engine, with some vehicles including it as standard equipment.

While EcoBoost started with just one engine, the powerful 3.5-liter V6, now there is a whole family of EcoBoost engines. Around the world, buyers can get EcoBoost engines in 1.0, 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.3, 2.7, and 3.5-liter varieties in nearly every type of vehicle.

The 2.7 and 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engines have been popular in the Ford F-150, offering the power of traditional V8 engines, with improved fuel economy and competitive tow-ratings. This year a retuned version of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder from the Mustang will be in the all-wheel-drive Focus RS, and is expected to produce more than 315 horsepower.

That shows how gloriously OUT OF TOUCH you are. Customers have been complaining for some time that the Ecoboosts DO NOT get markedly better MPG--in some cases worse--than their non-boosted counterparts.
