GM Bragged That The 2020 Corvette Would Start UNDER $60K — What Do YOU Predict Will Be The Street Price For A Nicely Equipped Model?
I think it's safe to say that the automotive world is still reeling from Thursday's momentous debut of the all-new, 2020 Chevrolet Corvette. While I believe it's a polarizing Corvette, one thing is certain.
General Motors' Chevrolet team is swinging for the fences.

While its exterior design is OK and its interior needs some work, there's no question that the all-new Corvette's pricing and packaging is an A+. Equipped with the Z51 package, the Corvette will deliver a mid-engine supercar that his 60 mph in under three seconds. Just for benchmarking purposes, can you imagine what its Nürburgring lap time is going to look like?
There's just one problem with GM's vision for the 'Vette: Will dealers ruin its splash by insisting on mark ups for first adopters?
Having said that, we've got to ask:
What do YOU predict the STREET PRICE for a nicely equipped, 2020 C8 Corvette?

$72K to $75K with 2LT package base. Thise excludes any early delivery greedy dealer premium markup.

Agreed, even still it represents a tremendous value, if take this over a M3/4, C 63, and most other performance cars for 60-70k, can’t think of too many others that would offer the same level of performance and design for that price.
Acura NSX is dead in the water, the GTR is now 6 figures along with the AMG GT and Porsche 911, the i8 doesn’t even compare nor does the R8, so yea....I think Chevy has a hit on their hands

Probably $100K to start with the mark ups. Probably $70K - $80K range once the price gouging has subsided.

75K+ will easily be the price of most of the cars on the dealer lots.

Easily $100K at start because of price gouging assuming you can find a base car. Chevy isn't in the habit of shipping base Corvettes.

I think that most of the early production will have the z51(?) package and will LIST nearer to $70,000 but of course the early deliveries will have all sorts of "DEALER ADD ONS" The First numbered production car has already been auctioned off for charity - so the rest will not be worth much more money.
But if you are willing to wait 6 months - it is likely the prices will return closer to list price.

6 months out they will be discounted.

It is not a limited edition, so while there may be some dealers taking advantage of early availability, it will settle down quickly.

Given the wrinkled noses among Corvette buyers, sales could go stone cold.

Given the average age of the Corvette buyer, their noses and nearly everything else are wrinkled. In ten years they will be in a home or in the ground. Chevy needed to change course.

They needed to make Corvette a brand. The C8 will be the death of Corvette. A more significant move would have been a Corvette "Macan". The C8 is a vanity project that will have been done in vain.

$80K will be the norm until sales level off. Honestly, anything below $100K for a car with this performance is a bargain. The only thing it doesn't have, at least initially, is AWD, which may still mean that many new C8's will find the nearest tree by overly zealous drivers.

Since they bet on the farm on making "their car" I really hope it finds an audience. The head guy seems to have indicated that we were at and end to the old platform as it was too hard to get down more than 500hp. Ok. Did you try AWD? Did you try adding an electric motor to drive the front wheels? More sophisticated traction control software? Better rubber? I think a lot more could have been done with the C7 myself. But we will never know...

There will be massive initial demand and dealers will try to gouge. After a year there will probably be ample supply. This will sell very well...cars like the Supra, BMW 8 series, Porsche 911/cayman will all lose sales. This thing is an absolute monster at what will probably end up sub $80k nicely equipped.

The average model 3 transaction price is still hovering above $50 K. So, your math is wrong. You must work in finance at Tesla.

To quote Elon Musk: "The Model 3 is $35K. If you want a color other than white, add $30K. PS White is no longer available."
