A Hoonigan's Dream? Someone Stuffed A Hellcat V8 Into This MIATA

A Hoonigan's Dream? Someone Stuffed A Hellcat V8 Into This MIATA
I’ll confess I’m not all that interested in or impressed by burnouts but, uh, there’s no denying the pure majesty of a 2,580-pound car putting 685 horsepower to its wheels.

This clip from Hoonigan Daily Transmission features what can only be described as a comically aggressive engine swap, I mean, then again, it’s really more its own animal than just a regular-old repower at this point.

Years ago - they used to do this with Triumphs and Mgs, Sunbeams, Cobras, and even some Jaguars - I see nothing new here

Now if FCA actually took their version of the Miata and put in the Chrysler
Hemi as a semi-production vehicle - that might be news - but they will not be doing that one

neat, remember car & driver did a tuner test back in mid-to-late 90s I think, where someone had dropped a Mustang V8 in a Miata.

The Ford V8 into a Miata is available in kit form and has been for virtually as long as the Miata has existed.

With that short wheelbase a regular Miata likely faster down B roads.

Depends on the conversion. There are Ford V8 conversions that I guarantee you will blister the wheezing Miata down B roads. The Miata is for nail girls, fruity-drink hair dressers, and old men that want to relive their youth fantasies in an MG. The Miata is slow and it's an average handler. The chassis can easily put down double the stock horsepower and that option should exist because then the Miata would be a sports car. Right now it's just a pretty convertible for stupid people.
