AWESOME or AWFUL? 51 Year-old NJ Man Arrested For Doing 142 MPH In A Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk
Well, one New Jersey man had an interesting weekend.

That's because on Saturday at around 8:00a on his way home from the New England area, he was spotted by police aircraft traveling south on Interstate 95 doing a rather speedy 142 mph. His vehicle of choice was the 700+ horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk.

Eric Joseph was charged with Reckless Operation and is slated to appear in a New Hampshire court on September 23. He doesn't seem too concerned, if we're honest, given his rather toothy smile in his mugshot.

So, I've got to ask: Is this AWESOME or AWFUL?

How would you punish someone driving at that rate of speed? Loss of license? Time served? Something else?

Atleast it wasn’t a residential area and no one was hurt, but maybe some jail time or community service will knock the smug smile off his face, thats bothering me more than speeding

If you want to speed "to see what it'll do" make it very short and do not exceed twice the posted speed limit. IE do a pull not a 1/2 mile run. Nobody will notice and you get to keep you license and your vehicle.

He looks like a dweeb with nothing to live for, but he can afford the vehicle with the big engine.

From Short Hill, NJ - he can afford the lawyer and fine. I don't know anyone who wants to get back to NJ that fast.

Funny! Hopefully he gets a good lawyer and beats the ticket.

When I was 20 years old (going to College in Worcester, MA and driving my roomates Honda Prelude home to visit my family in NJ) I got stopped doing 85 in a 55 zone on rural I-84 between the Massachusetts line and Hartford, CT.

I was so angry that they caught me and was in disbelief that somebody could get a ticket from a plane (back then, the officers in the plane counted/timed the mile markers which it turns out was iron-clad in traffic court, as long as the officer showed up). The officer took great pleasure in explaining it to me! I guess now, they just use LIDAR/RADAR?

And LIDAR doesn't lie.
