Ford Facing $1.2 Billion Lawsuit Over Bogus Mileage Claims
everal owners of America's best-selling vehicle, the Ford F-150 pickup truck, have filed a class-action lawsuit against the Michigan-based automaker on Monday. The suit alleges that Ford willingly falsified fuel economy data.

In late February, Ford announced that it was voluntarily investigating concerns raised by its employees over the accuracy of fuel economy testing for its Ranger midsize pickup truck. According to complaints, Ford provided regulators with erroneous data after it reportedly used "incorrect calculations" to determine real-world fuel economy figures.

"EPA sets the mileage for vehicles.. Not the mfgr!!!..." Not really. The EPA does more than its share of wink/wink "testing" with manufacturers. In many cases, the EPA certifies off of data shared by the manufacturer.

"...The test data used to determine fuel economy estimates is derived from vehicle testing done at EPA's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and by vehicle manufacturers who submit their own test data to EPA..."

This is a Bogus lawsuit. Every manufacturer could be sued for the same claims. Each ad always states clearly that "you mileage may vary according to your driving style." Unscrupulous lame brain lawyers are at the root cause of these flagrant law suits.

For most Vehicles - the Manufacturer provides the test data to establish the EPA mileage of a vehicle - the EPA does randomly test SOME - but only some vehicles.

IF Ford used "Incorrect calculations" - those will be in the data supplied to the EPA and easily proven - and that will cost FORD. If the base test results were misrepresented - that will be harder to prove.

Skytop - while there are disclaimers - the figures supplied are supposed to be COMPARABLE to other vehicles - so a consumer can make a decision based on them. IF they deliberately inflate the numbers in some way - that is a problem FORD will pay for.

But No - Ford will not be forced to make all EVs -
