Safest Car On the Planet? Tesla Model 3 Aces Yet ANOTHER Crash Test

The Tesla Model 3’s reign as one of the safest vehicles on the road today continues, with the electric sedan getting a perfect 5-Star Safety Rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), a safety performance assessment system based in Australia. The impressive findings were announced in a press release on Tuesday, with the ANCAP lauding the vehicle for its suite of active and passive safety features.

The ANCAP granted a score of 96% for the Model 3’s Adult Occupant Protection systems, with full points being achieved by the vehicle for three out of four destructive crash tests. Full points were also scored by the front passenger in the frontal offset test, which simulates a direct, head-on collision. Maximum points were given to the vehicle for child occupants in the side impact test as well.

Yawn. A lot of cars get high safety scores today. Many do not spontaneously catch on fire.
Why so many posts from the Tesla fan site?
Obviously, the name alone tells you they are pro-tesla.

Yes, but only one is the safest - and that's the Model 3.

No Model 3s have spontaneously caught fire, including one that fell 40 feet down a cliff (the driver walked away).

The Tesla 3 actually does quite well in the IIHS testing. The actual ratings by the IIHS on the areas tested was superior in all categories except the headlights which were rated as good. They were not superior due to a couple of factors, one they are not curve adaptive and although they were rated good on straights and all curves except, however the "gradual left curve" where they were rated inadequate.

Gee, that's impressive, oh wait there are over 200 cars with the ANCAP 5 star rating.

But only one is the best.

"It should be noted that the Model 3’s 94% score for the ANCAP’s Safety Assist category is the highest Safety Assist score achieved by {{{{{ any vehicle }}}}} against the ANCAP’s protocols, which are currently based on the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). Quite interestingly, the Euro NCAP also gave the Model 3 a perfect 5-Star Safety Rating earlier this month"

I don't think a single aspect of the headlights performance would deter me when other aspects seem superior to other brands rated as a tsp+. For instance impact tests around the world show that even though many cars may get a 5 star rating (or whatever the particular tests top rating is), the Tesla often does the best. It is like many students may get an A is physics but one student got a 100 and the others got a 91.
