General Motors Debunks Rumor That C7 Corvette Production Will Continue Along Side Of New C8
Ahead of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8's debut, there were rumors of the company building it alongside the C7 generation simultaneously at least for a little while for a gradual introduction of the new model. Apparently, these reports were inaccurate, and General Motors President Mark Reuss has now said that offering them together was never part of the product plan.

"That wasn't something that we planned," Reuss told GM Authority. "This [mid-engine Corvette C8] was always the replacement."

Orders ended June 23 and they expect to finish production before the end of Summer.

People out here were predicting that they would keep the C7 as part of a Corvette "brand" - but I never expected them to do that. I do not expect a Corvette SUV will ever be produced. Doing that would water down the Corvette name

TomM You're so full of bullshit. Stop using hindsight to pretend you had 20/20 vision.

Never say never...about a potential Corvette SUV.

And fanatics were saying that a rear-engine Corvette would "water down" the brand. I'm thinking thats not the situation here. The Corvette brand cachet has just increased 10-fold. As long as the engine don't blow up during competition comparisons, The C8 is an excellent evolutionary step-up for the Chevy performance car.

Chevy has one Corvette production line in Kentucky. How would it ever be possible (or be supported by a business case) to add a new Corvette line so two can be produced at once?
