If YOU Were In Charge Of Nissan How Would You Get Them Back On Track?
The news of Nissan’s recent financial trouble brought attention right where it needs to be: on lackluster product. In our most recent reporting regarding Nissan’s sales woes, I was asked in the comments whether I had any ideas for improvement. Well that got me thinking (and worked up), and it turns out I do have ideas, and they fall into three major categories.

irst up is a culling of product. Nissan makes too many things that are old/noncompetitive/boring/bad/similar. The following listing covers current models, and pares them down into a new lineup for 2023 or thereabouts:

(1) Fire the stylists who churn out ugly insect styling with the chrome "u" on the nose and find people who have taste.

(2) Ditch the CVT. Conventional automatics are simply better.

(3) Get away from Renault at all cost. They destroyed Nissan quality. Quality needs to be priority #1.

(4) Kill Titan, Frontier, Armada, Maxima, Note, and every Infiniti.

(5) Reposition the Z Car against the Mustang engine-for-engine, option-for-option, to the penny.

(6) Reposition the GTR to fill the hole left by the Corvette C7.

Good start, Nissan used to be kind of the low cost drivers pick which it seems like Mazda has been trying to fill. I would add remake the Maxima into the sporty sedan offering, similarly with the Altima, next remake the Rogue and Murano with inexpensive sporty models available and make the base model the sportiest of the base low cost SUVs.

Rename the Rogue: "a dishonest or unprincipled man" "an elephant or other large wild animal driven away or living apart from the herd and having savage or destructive tendencies"

Redesign the Z and GT-R. Get rid of the versa. Cut a crossover, they are all the same. Move the Maxima to AWD and sportback style.

1- THey really need to upgrade Quality - selling against the Koreans on price won't do. They once made Toyota Quality or better cars - go back to that.

2 - THey don't need BOTH - Maxima and Altima - both the same size - either get rid of one (Maxima can be a top trim level) - OR - Make and Longer version for the Maxima - but the first is better because cars are not selling.

3 - Stop the Full size Titan- But they can still sell the Frontier if they modernize it.

Frankly - I believe that they will end up being completely bought out - like Mitsubishi - they lost their chance by bungling it.

Their styling sucks. Not a single car in the lineup looks appealing. Same for Infiniti.

Actually make good cars. There is not a single car in the NIssan or Infiniti lineup that I just have to have. There was a time when I wanted drove a Pathfinder and loved it over anything else in its class. There was a time I drove a 350Z for 6 years and loved every minute of it. There was a time I lusted after a G35 Coupe because it was drop-dead gorgeous, sounded sultry, and drove amazingly, and no way I wanted a 3-SEries coupe (at that time) over it. Now....nothing. MAYBE the Q60, but that interior is sad and dated and an S version with 400hp performs no better than a C43 Coupe, 440i, or S5 Coupe.

Go all in on electrification. Start with a mid-sized electric truck. Use that platform to create an electric crossover. Then an electric Z and 510.

Progressive sporty styling, with budget friendly performance. And upgrade dealer services.

I wish dealerships would go smaller in size. Where there is a central inventory, no need to walk all over the lot to find the unicorn. Customer walk's in. Demonstrates one car, you sit with your sales associate, spec out/price - all menu driven - no finance manager and car is dropped off at your choice of place.
