Bose Pulls Out All Of The Stops With 14 Speaker Sound System For 2020 Corvette
With how our lives are so centered around media these days, it’s incredibly frustrating when a new car doesn’t come with a decent stereo. Thankfully, there’s no such worry in the new mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray as Bose just announced that it’ll be introducing its most powerful automotive sound system ever for Chevy’s new halo car and continuing a long-standing relationship that’s been around since the 1984 C3 Corvette.

The optional system consists of a total of 14 speakers, making it the most speaker units Bose has ever integrated into a two-seat automobile. The system is made up of neodymium speakers of varying size followed by 1-inch neodymium tweeters for treble support. All were strategically placed throughout the Corvette's interior for optimal sound quality.

This is turning out to be the ultimate “comeback car” first Chevy leaves no stone unturned with the performance, interior, and exterior, now BOSE is ready to come back and reclaim its throne after being the luxury Car Audio King of the 90’s/early 2000’s, I can’t wait to drive this thing

Too bad the exterior isn't immediately gorgeous like the 63 boat tail Stingray.

True but let’s be honest do any vehicles look as good as their golend era predecessors from the 50s-60s?

Next up is the SL, trying to capture what the original Gullwing did in the 50’s but let’s be honest that was a special period for the automotive world, one not to be duplicated easy

@C4L1 they voted me down because they think it hurts my feelings, but they voted you down for being civil with me on the point. #hilarity

@MD - Everyone got voted down in this discussion. I am beginning to think the C8 is becoming a holy cow on this site. No talk, no touch, no hear.

Lol I love my votes up and votes down because someone took time out of their day to respond to what I said while I can usually care less lol

@C4L1 Ditto me. Imagine the uproar if the agents removed voting. The heads of the simpletons would explode. If I don't get -5 at least, my work is not done.

If I was Chevy I would try to make money on this part of the C8 too. A) Chevy Audio, B) Bose Audio C) Naim Audio D) Bang & Olufsen. There will be customers for each level of system and more than happy to pay.

Or you can put an excellent system into the base car and improve sales.

Base system is a 10 speaker Bose. Should be good enough for most people.

Base systems in Porsches are very weak.

I don't like the way Bose sound with heavy bass, but love the way B&O does, so I will stick with them when possible.

BOSE
Buy Other Sound Equipment
You can always choose the radio delete option and put in an under dash 8 track

I've never owned a car with Bose, but from what I've read they've never been that impressive. I've had cars with Bang and Olufsen (Audi), Dynaudio, Fender (VW) and Harmon Kardon (Subaru & Kia). The Fender and the HK systems sounded better than the B&O, and I know B&O is a major player in home audio. I think the issue with it was the subwoofer was underpowered, or they didn't have it adjusted correctly. There was no user sub control available. The HK in both the Outback and now my Niro are pretty good for car audio.

While Bose made some nice sounding table radios, I've never been impressed with their larger systems that are designed for things like home theater. Especially for the price tag.

It's a bit of a myth that Bose or B&O etc. design the sound system. They collaborate with the manufacturer so that the manufacturer can use the name as a selling point.

@MD- Can you elaborate? I can appreciate the speaker or tweeter cover is a part from GM of a supplier who made the door card. But surely the speaker and the tweeter and the wiring, amp etc are all from the audio maker?

A manufacturer CANNOT afford to have a plethora of parts, so a lot of components (via part number) are the same. When the manufacturer is designing the interior, the consultation happens for placement. The audio company tunes the sound but they do not have carte blanch to do as they want in the interior. Moreover, I have seen where a vehicle has a name brand audio system, but the components are NOT 100% from that name brand. This is VERY common the lower on the price level you go. In some places the audio company "tunes" and in other, more expensive designs, they may "participate" in the design of the interior. But, if B&O did a Nissan Versa sound system, they would be tuning the components but the components would be CHEAPOS.

I was wondering if someone would come out with that. I've never been really impressed with Bose. Meridian, Denon etc... All seem to do a better job. Make the optional high end system something from someone who is known for high end systems. Which do you think is the best high end system in a car? My vote goes to Meridian.

Isn't the point of this car the sound of the engine revving, the tires squealing, and the air flying by? The audio system adds weight/hurts performance and is unnecessary on the track when one wears a helmet.

@vdiv - The average age of a Corvette buyer is 60 years old. The car rarely sees a track. More about correct treble and bass settings for your Neil Young Harvest CD and less about burning rubber and lap times.

60 year olds can't hear much anyway, especially after driving a Corvette ;)
