WHICH Vehicles Have You SOLD That You Regret To THIS Day?
As we shift from gasoline-powered vehicles into a new era of electrification, and possibly greater autonomy, pure driver's cars are highly sought after. And, looking back, there's a lot of autos that fit into that category that has used vehicle prices exploding.

And then there's the insane vintage market where something like a Dino 246 GT or Land Rover Defender are going for a pretty penny.

After running across an Autocar article, I found myself wondering what our colorful audience has previously owned, and sold, with heavy hearts.

Let's hear it, Spies!

Like keen fishermen, Autocar's writers are often spinning yarns about "the ones that got away", but they're not talking about elusive carp.

If you’ve been lucky enough to own one of your dream cars, you might be familiar with longing for a machine you once owned. Whether through financial necessity, profit-hunting or just poor decision-making, these are the much-missed motors we let go...

That is one hell of a list. What other cars have you owned?

Mine would be a 88 325is -my first BMW and second car. I drove the shit out of it for 5 glorious years and kept rolling the odometer back to feel better about my car and landed up giving it to my brother who wrecked it. I still wish I had that car back and/or a E30 M3 which is what I really wanted but couldn't afford when I got the 325 at the time.

Primarily owned other Italian ..... Maseratis, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Alfas etc. but also a number of Jags, Lotus, Porsches etc. A lot of them I had at the same time, in a modest collection. While I loved the cars, but when you start buying 55 gallon drums of Castrol 20/50 for annual oil changes it makes you think a bit.

The only one I actually owned that would have been nice to still have was my 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1. The one that I had to drive for a while but never owned was a 1967 Shelby GT 500. I probably could have bought it, but most likely would have either seriously injured or killed myself. That was too much car for a 17 year old kid. And I did try to buy a 1967 Corvette 427, but back then even $1500 was more than I could afford.

1987 pristine, light blue with navy leather interior, 560SL. A stunning classic. Build quality, paint, wood, everything was just amazing.

I sold a real Hemi Dart and a real Ford Thunderbolt as a pair out of a collection for really big money only to have that person sell them for even bigger money a year later.

1990 Calypso Red BMW 325iC - sold in 2008 (with !! 45,000 !! miles), I wanted it back a month later but the guy wouldn't sell it to me. I had a 325iS for a time but the cab was the best.

He still has the vehicle so maybe there is still hope.

I miss them all! As car people I think we can all agree that all the cars we have owned mean something at some point. The ones that I really regret selling were my C43 and 1M. I do miss the Cayman R but without selling that I would never have the 997.2 911, which i am never ever selling (god willing)!

I didn't sell it - it was Stolen- but I had a Mercedes 450SEL 6.9 back in the Seventies and there was NOTHING like it on the road then. I even had to go to court with my insurance company when they tried to give me the depreciated rate for the base car - because they could not replace the car.

Ooooh - not good. Did they ever find it?

Did you win the insurance suit? 6.9 was a nice ride.

Were they all "450SEL 6.9" or were later ones just badged "6.9"?

Kinda funny how the 2019 V6 "S450" which gets 26+ MPG is now a whole lot faster than the 6.9 ever was!
