Ferrari 458 Italia Or A 2020 Corvette? Which Gets Your Hard Earned Cash And Why?

The all-new 2020 Corvette Stingray is easily the hottest car of the moment, and how could it not be? America’s quintessential sports car just morphed into a genuine supercar, and did so even in base spec form.

What’s even more awesome is the fact that GM will charge you less than $60,000 for one, which is tremendous value for money in a car that you could call the Ferrari 458 Italia’s modern American cousin.

The F458 in all its forms represents the last V8 NA engined Ferrari sold. It will appreciate greatly over time. The "speciale" version will appreciate the most. The Corvette is a better value and a much more reliable and easier to live with car. But it is not an investment like the Ferrari.

Well said. It also depends on how much you are willing to invest and your ownership time horizon

I was up close to a red F458 and had a look. It was making its own parking spot in a mall parking lot. Parked in the road extending one row of parking. Crazy but true. I was actually amazed how small of a car it really is and how tiny the interior is. Fine if you are my size, but 6ft or more I think it would be a bit snug.

Agreed, but if your intention is to actually drive and enjoy the car, for what the Ferrari costs in maintenance and depreciation with mileage, it'd be cheaper to buy both and drive the wheels off the dependable one.

Ferrari.

Hmmm, pay 6 figures to catch on fire or pay 60k roughly the same you’d pay for a 340i or c 43, yea Corvette gets my money

While yes the Ferrari will appreciate, the cheapest one I saw is a 2010 that cost twice as much as the Vette and that’s if it makes it before catching on Fire or taking full custody of your bank account in maintenance

This is assuming you could easily afford a Ferrari. So I would get the Ferrari. Exclusivity. Mystique. Sexier. Better investment. And, frankly, it's my damn money.

Steak or a hot dog. Your decision.

That would be true ONLY if Ferrari were of higher quality. The Corvette will go 100K miles with the reliability of a Camry and Ferraris will have more issues and more cost. The Ferrari may have rich Corinthian leather, but for it's price, it should not cost an arm and a leg to maintain,

Corvette. The Corvette does its price point far better than the Ferrari.

The thing about any exotic is you can't really put miles on them. Just look at the average miles on any Ferrari for sale. 10k miles is a lot and 20k miles is astronomical.

My neighbor's F12 has been driven exactly once in the last 3 months.

I'll take the Corvette. It's the better car for much less money. Simple.

At just over 6'8", The Specific Ferrari you mention does not accommodate my frame.
I do not know if I could easily get into the Vette either - based on the lack of mobility in my right leg.

However - I can get into - and inelegantly out of my 812 Superfast so I think I will stick with it. Either way - none of these cars would be my choice as a daily driver though.
