For Those Who Want More, Porsche Introduces The 670HP Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid

Porsche has introduced the new Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe.

Set to arrive in the United States early next year, the models have a plug-in hybrid powertrain that features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 541 hp (403 kW / 548 PS). It’s backed up by an electric motor that develops an additional 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS). This enables the crossovers to have a combined output of 670 hp (550 kW / 679 PS) and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.

If Porsche was smart, instead of dumping development money into micro-variations of their existing lineup, they would take the MLBevo platform and roll out a Porsche 7-seater (or more likely 6 bucket seats) SUV that they could sell in volume for $150,000 to $250,000.

How many people actually buy these micro-model high-price editions of Panameras and Cayenne's?

Porsche would also broaden the appeal of the Panamera by offering a 3-across rear seat and minimizing the rear center console.

But..I guess they don't care about broadening appeal.

Don't you think that three across in a Panamera would be cramped?

3 across in a VW Jetta is cramped and a Panamera is much wider than a Jetta.

In the universe of "cramped" it would register as "a little cramped" for the once a month when 3 people need to sit in the back seat. Lots of cars have cramped back seats and when only two are back there, the absence of the rear center console would make it less claustrophobic.

I love the Panamera but it is not configured to meet my needs so I can't get one.

I can't imagine 3 of me in the back seat of a Panamera and I'm in-shape, physically fit, and not an ounce overweight, 6'2", 34" waist.
