So among all cars and trucks, the Model 3 was the 3rd best selling vehicle. Also 1 out of every 8 cars sold in CA in xEV with a 60% growth in pure battery EVs. Pretty good progress overall, let's see what H2 brings.

The only reason why people I know drive EVs in CA is to access the carpool lane while driving solo. When not commuting, they drive any other car they own.

That is completely untrue, every Tesla owner I know prefers it to other cars they own. Some are now on their 2nd Tesla.

Right, I wonder how many Camry would’ve been sold if it had $3,750/1,875 tax credit + $2,500 state rebate + $1,000 SCE rebate...

And if you lease it, given Camry pretty high residual value, it’s like FREE!!!

Great car. Basically sells itself.

Given sedan sales — you know, that cratering thing — is there any relevance or significance to this statistic? I mean, being the best selling vehicle in a dying niche? Really?
Now, if the Model Y was the best selling SUV/crossover in the US (as opposed to a single state), that would be exciting.
But a sedan outselling Camry in a single state? Boorrrring. And meaningless.

Nearly half of all tesla sales are in California. The reasons why expalin why this is not happening across the US. Charging infrastructure, tax laws, car pool lanes, warm weather all help with tesla in CA. The Camry is not selling as well largely due to the trend toward crossovers.
The Subaru Crosstrek outsells the Camry in th UP of Michigan, does this indicate it will happen across the US?

Yup, exactly.

Bodes well for when chargers are as plentiful across the US as they are in CA today, as well as for the Model Y which is a much larger market today.
