RUMOR: The Agents Hear A BABY Kia Telluride Is In The Works

RUMOR: The Agents Hear A BABY Kia Telluride Is In The Works
One of 2019's breakout stars comes from what may have once been an unsuspecting place. That would be Kia.

But, one thing's clear: This Korean marque hit the nail on the head with the Telluride.

The full-size, three-row sport-utility vehicle is taking the brand to a new place where it previously failed. A more luxury-oriented offering. The K900 flopped. The Stinger did OK. But, the Telluride moved the needle.

Not only has this surprised certain brands' executives that we've spoken to, which are mighty impressed with the Telluride, we've heard that something else may be in the works from Kia.

That would be a baby Telluride.

That said, we've got to ask: Would the winning formula be to create a smaller scale carbon copy? What would YOU like to see in a baby Telluride?

It seems to resemble a minuscule GM Escalade.

Nah they look vastly different from each other.

Wouldn't a mini-Telluride = larger AWD Kia Soul?

The Sorento is far from terrible, but it is not a magic unicorn like the Telluride. "Butching up" the Sorento would be a logical move.

They've hit on a very cool, modern and distinctive look on the Telluride - they need to bottle this and extend it to the rest of their SUV range.

But if it had an Audi badge on it you'd have a poster of it and would feel "self-enjoyment" over it.

Did you say the same thing when you saw the Subaru Ascent? Or because since Subaru isnt Korean you not going to say that and pretend the Subaru is groundbreaking.

Subaru ASScent

If the nams Asscent came out first, the Hyundai Accent name would had been accused of copying. But because Subaru isnt Korean and Hyundai is, they are going to play dumb as if it dosent sound nothing like the Hyundai.

Not sure how much of the needle it's actually moving. It's now 4 full months in and sales are already on the decline. First month 5500. Second month 7000. Third month 6000. And last month fewer than 5000 units. Has the hype already died down? Not sure. Atlas and Ascent both sold well over 7000 units last month. Even the Pathfinder, which is pretty much dead in the water, sold about the same as the Telluride. Now, the Palisade may have taken away from the Telluride, so that's certainly a factor, as it sold about 4500 units. But it's not like Hyundai and Kia share showrooms, so who's to say the impact of the Palisade on the Telluride sales. Highlander and Pilot sales were down about 4k units total in July, so that might be where a good chunk of Palisades sales came from.

Ignoring the Tellurtide is doing wayyyy better than the Borrego sold. And it is Kias fault the sales are declining. Who on earth knows about car fires and doesnt do nothing about it. Did they ignoring the fires actually think people would continue to buy Kias? That's stupid. If I was seeing fires I'm recalling immediately.

What does the Passport have to do with this discussion? Maybe you didn't notice we're talking about 3-row SUVs here. But since we're on the subject, the Passport's sales haven't been stellar, but they aren't crashing either. They have leveled off at around 3500 sales per month, steadily increasing since its premiere. But it's a tough sell when the 3-row Pilot is sitting right next to it in a showroom for only a bit more on the sticker price. It's not like the distinctive size/space differences between the Sorrento and Telluride.

Not to mention, the CR-V which is slightly smaller, yet much less expensive, but a stellar offering nonetheless. Poor product positioning by Honda? Possibly. But still decent incremental sales for the brand that have not decreased since introduction.
