Audi selected Europe as the first market for the redesigned Q7, where prospective customers are presently offered the 3.0-liter TDI in two states of tune. According to a company spokesperson, Audi prioritized this engine at launch to the detriment of gasoline options because TDI muscle is what most prospective customers want in this part of the world.

 

A reasoned decision rather than a stopgap measure, the 3.0-liter TDI may not seem like a great fit due to a shrinking demand for diesel passenger vehicles on the Old Continent. Looking beyond the macro-level stuff, demand remains unusually strong in the premium-oriented large sport utility vehicle segment.
