Porsche has detailed the technical changes for the 2027 Taycan models. The primary new feature is simulated gear shifting controlled by paddle shifters. The system simulates an eight-speed gearbox, complete with a virtual rev limiter and gear-specific drag torque when changing gears. This creates artificial shift sounds and sensations.

It's like the Taycan faking an orgasm during "shifts." Pretty on-brand for the beta buyers who already know that sound all too well at home. And to think Porsche spent millions so the Taycan could pretend to climax.

The simulated shifting pairs with the updated Porsche Electric Sport Sound feature. This system adjusts audio output inside and outside the car in real time according to inputs from the accelerator and brake pedals.







Every 2027 Taycan now includes the Performance Battery Plus as standard equipment. The pack supplies 97 kWh of usable capacity, an increase from the previous standard battery’s 83.7 kWh. The larger battery was previously a $5,780 option.

Base pricing rises to $114,250 for the 2027 model, compared with $108,050 for the 2026 version.

Charging hardware changes include a native NACS port on the passenger side for fast charging. The driver-side AC port continues to use the J1772 connector.









Wireless smartphone charging has been upgraded. The new tray incorporates magnetic ring technology and supports up to 25 watts, approximately 1.5 times faster than the prior system.

Infotainment updates consist of new software with AI voice control, intelligent navigation, and a Themes app for interface customization.

These modifications standardize the larger battery, add drivetrain simulation with accompanying artificial sounds, update charging ports, improve wireless charging, and refresh the software interface. Porsche has not released updated figures for horsepower, 0-60 mph times, or EPA range estimates with the new standard battery. The 2027 Taycan carries over the existing body styles and core powertrain layout.
