The World Cup 2026 is here, and Mexico is the first country to qualify for the knockout stages. How do I know that? Waze just showed live scores during my navigation, so yes, Mexico just scored a narrow win over South Korea and reached the knockout.

  

The live score alerts in Waze were announced in early June by Google itself. The search giant introduced multiple ways to stay up-to-date with what happens during the tournament, including these Waze alerts that pop up on the screen just like a regular traffic hazard notification.

 

However, there’s a big difference.

When it announced the feature, Google said the live score alerts would only be displayed when the vehicle is stationary.
